Hydra wide band question
I searched Hydra wide band and only four threads came up - w/o what I am looking for. So, I am starting this one.
I come from a subi background where the ecu can be flashed and I can use an installed wide band in the downpipe - or the tuner can put one in the tail pipe on the dyno (I know it's not as accurate, but it works). If I install a Hydra, can I have my tuner put his wide band in the tail pipe or do I have to purchase a Hydra wide band? I am guessing I have to purchase the Hydra wideband, but if I don't have to, I can save some $$$. Please advise a newb. Thx. |
WTF are you trying to do?
i just played 8 different scenarios through my head, all of them end up with different answers. one of them involved an elephant and a rhinocerous tap dancing to garth brooks:we shall be free. I know that's fucked up, where the hell are we going to get tap shoes for a fucking elephant? Sorry, I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory. If your tuner knows a thing or two about a thing or two, there is no need to purchase an ECU WBO2. The ECU uses the WBO2 for tuning...if your tuner is tuning with the ECU'S WBO2 tuning program, then hes worth about as much to you as a penny with a hole shot through the middle of it. Unfortunately, you have to remember: Half the people you meet are below average. |

If I were you I would put a sensor and wideband gauge in your car and get one that can datalog. Occasional checks on that will help you avoid wearing meat helmets and also help you set up your trims when the weather changes etc. |

the thing about the hydra wideband is not that it's a specific sensor.
the hydra wideband functionality is password protected. you're paying for that. |
Well, it sounds as if I don't have to purchase the WB to get the car tuned. But, if I want to data log and keep an eye on how safe the car is running then I should just bite the bullet and buy the $$$'ve Hydra WB.
I am having the stock MSM turbo upgraded with a new compressor housing so it will now have an EVO3 16G comp wheel and new TD05 turbine (yes, I will have all the supporting mods...). I just can't bring myself to rip out the entire msm turbo system to put a decent turbo on the car. Eventually, I will need new rods and pistons. But, that's a bit more than I want to spend right now. I will be tuned for E85 and 91oct. While I won't be running the upgraded turbo anywhere near it's potential on the stock engine, I hope I can get get over 250whp for now. |
You should talk with your tuner. If he can't answer this question, please find a different tuner.

^ Thank you. I don't know why I did not think of that. Sometimes the simplest things evade the simplest minds, lol.
