Installed a Hydra Today - Boost Control Question2003
Upgraded from a VoodooII to the FM2. Fairly painless operation and the car started right up and ran well.
I installed the Electronic Boost Control but quickly realized that setting it up properly is over my head for now. It only made 10 psi on the base map. I'd like to return to my manual boost controller for now until I get a better handle on all the functionality of the software. Does anyone know if I need to do anything besides disconnect the Electronic Boost Contol solenoid and replace it with my manual control? Anything that I need to disable in the software? I e- mailed Jeremy, but as it's Friday afternoon, I really can't expect an answer for a while. Thanks, Paul 2003 FM2 |
If you simply unplug the EBC solenoid then the car will run at the mechanical waste gate. You can replumb a MBC into it if you want manual boost control for a higher level than the waste gate.
You shouldn't need to do anything in the Hydra in the short term -- it will try to control the solenoid, but if it's not plugged in then that will do nothing. If you were to do this long term, you might want to turn off EBC again in the software. You should validate that your over boost fuel cut threshold is set appropriately to whatever your maximum expected boost is. If your were aiming for the same target with MBC and EBC then there's probably no change here. --Ian |
Thank you Ian.

Once you get a handle on how most of the ECU operates and start getting frustrated by the EBC, email Jeremy and ask him for the R87 firmware.
