Newest Hydra Firmware
Jeremy Ferber ( Flyin' Miata ) recently sent out an e-mail with a Hydra firmware update attached ( R88 ). Although the e-mail mentioned that the elusive "low-load-misfire" had still not been fixed, it seems to have done so for my car. While the misfire seemed to be a random and minor occurrence, it is an annoying thing on an expensive ECU that otherwise seems to work very well when dialed in.
My car car is running SO WELL that I considered not even installing the update for fear of screwing up a good thing. Not to worry, the upgrade was easily installed and has seemed *so far* to have eliminated the misfire event. if you haven't installed the update, you might want to consider it. Paul |
Good to know , now if you could do something about the snow drift my car is stuck in .......oh well spring can't be that far away. Thx Fredb

Agreed, I installed R88 in a customer's '99 over the weekend and it cured a slight misfire under boost. Another customer reported to me he installed R88 in his MSM and it cured some misfires under boost as well. I'll be installing it in my personal car, 2002 with VVT as soon as I start driving it again. I do not have any misfires, but R88 appears to be a solid upgrade to previous versions.

I have to agree, I believe the new firmware update has gotten rid of my issue as well with a slight misfire. She definitely seems to be running much smoother day to day.

Last month I updated to the R88 firmware that Jeremy sent out, so far my fuel mileage improved. I calculated 32mpg mixed.

My radio reception is better and it really makes my paint shine.....
