Tuning steps
 

So, I have been playing around with datalogging and autotuning. I can see what is going on and from back in the old carb tuning days I understand what adjustments are needed.

The problem is that it is so time comsuming to do. 20 minutes to data log, 30 minutes to review, 10 minutes to adjust, 15 minutes to load, then do it all over again.

So, is there a faster way? I spoke to a local tuner and was told it would only take a hour to tune. I don't see how.

1. Put car on dyno
2. Make a pull in your 1:1 gear and log
3. Make appropriate adjustments
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until tuning is complete.

When tuning on the dyno, turn autotune off.

The dyno is in the plans but I want to get the tune as close as I can befroe going. It is 3 pulls for 75 or 150 a hour to tune. I can't immagine that all the tuning could be done in a hour or so.

Under cruse pullling 350 to 500 hg @ 3000 to 5000 it is 12.8 to 13.5 AFR (rich) and under boost 2 to 7 psi it is 4000 to 6000 it is 13.4 to 11.9 AFR (lean). I think the throttle pump inrichment is high as on my datalog it shows AFR's in the 11 range right after stepping on the throttle but it leans out as RPM rise.

I have leaned the area in vacume and richened the area under boost and slightly lowered my pump inrichment.

After I get my fuel running right I will play with the timing. Then schedule the dyno to load the car for final tuining. I figure I will have gotton faster with my tuning by then.

Well here is what I am trying.

1. Find a flat section of road with the speed limit at 70mph.
2. Open data log.
3. Make a 3rd gear pull from 3500rpm to 7500.
4. Click the populate grid button.
5. Note time it took to accelerate from 4000rpm to 7000rpm.
6. Review and make changes.
7. Reset log buffer.
8. Repeat.

If the time is getting shorter then the power is going up.

good thing the hydra has a very good autotune feature. turn that on and let it go do its thing.

Have you been suscessful tuning above 4500rpm? It just tunes below that for me. Maybe it would in 4th or 5th but then I am way above any legal speeds here.

Ah, I found it. I was reading another thread. The 2.6 won't let you adjust the tuning rate but it will let you select fast or slow in the options menu. I will get out and try it this weekend. Right now I am hunting down an idle problem with the A/C on. I think I have a vacume leak contributing to it.

2.17 has RPM high and low limts... maybe 2.6 does too

I looked under the settings 1 menu and didnt see anything that would lead me to beleiving that it related to auto tune. Do you have a file path to get there?

Sorry, never studied 2.6 and the quick glance at it didn't show me anything useful...
