Wide band O2 sensor help.
I got a new wideband sensor but had a different plug. I solder the old plug now it won't even read or calibrate or heat up. I found out I should used butt connectors . Think that will fix it or would I have to get a new one paid 275 for this one already.

New sensor won't plug into the wideband controller? What controller are you using? Post pictures of the old and new connectors.

Hydra 2.6 It's the ntk sensor the old one I had uses the gm type flat sensor. The new one they sent my had a square type plug

What's happened here is that OP has a car that has already been converted to use the actual OEM sensor plug and then got fleeced for a ridiculous upcharge sensor from Hydra or one of the companies that still support Hydra. OR OP ordered the Honda sensor at a much more reasonable price, and his car hasn't/hadn't been converted. Anyways OP, cut out your solder job and try the butt splices. Also consider pinning into a Honda connector if you haven't already, car side, so you don't have to deal with this crap anymore. |
I already cut the old new connector off and soldered the old one on. Should I have used crimp connectors instead ? Found out it's bad to solder o2 sensors

He's using a Hydra. It has an onboard controller and they historically used a "proprietary" sensor which was merely just a Honda sensor with the plug changed to further milk money out of the poor saps who bought the damn ECUs.

Good luck. :)
In the future, assuming your onboard wideband controller isn't dead and that's why your sensors don't work, consider repinning the harness on the car/Hydra side to the OEM Honda plug, so you don't have to 1) Pay $275 for a $150 sensor anymore and 2) you don't have to cut things every time you change your sensor to splice on a very inferior GM flat plug. |
All the wiring is correct . I e-mailed Phill from element tuning. He thinks it's a possibility the on board controller is burned out can be looked at but will cost more $ .I purchased the car with this ecu. So really thinking bout going with mega squirt instead cus he said it be 500 for 2.7 upgrade and idk how much to get ecm fixed the cost will be close to just getting a ms

So can anyone confirm that the Honda part number 13246 sensor will work ? If I repin my connectors for it .it be alot cheaper next time.
|
That part number sounds right, but it's been many years since i updated from Hydra. There should be a couple thread specifically about the correct sensor in this forum. Plug that number into the search drop down in this forum specifically and you should be golden. :)

Why can't you solder the wires? How would butt connectors better? I used low heat solder connectors. Would they be okay?
