$1500 1.8L Engine, FM2, Link, etc ???

I just bought this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=270136753541

Too good to be true?

neogenesis2004 06-24-2007 10:21 AM

I'm sure all the stuff in the bay is salvageable. You can see in the pic that the car was sideswiped by something. The firewall is is bent. As long as you bought it for parts its a great buy.

rmcelwee 06-24-2007 10:25 AM

Trying to get the guy to give me the entire car. I would love to use the rear end for a trailer.

Ben 06-24-2007 10:43 AM

Good score man!!
You'll get $1000 back out of the Link, basically giving you a $500 1.8 w/ turbo.

It was on Ebay! I didn't exactly luck out and find it like these other lucky bastards on this board. I came home this morning, saw it and couldn't believe no one bought the thing yet. Was I the only one who saw it (I think some dumb ass bid $1 on it before me)?

RotorNutFD3S 06-24-2007 06:44 PM

Someone on here posted up the link to it earlier today in another thread. But now I can't find it. I definately don't need any of it, so why buy it? lol

Braineack 06-24-2007 07:36 PM

nice buy!

You buy it to part it out and make money on it.

rmcelwee 06-24-2007 09:20 PM

Waiting on pictures but the guy told me the IC is gone and that alum radiator is busted. He owns a salvage yard and bought it at an auction in ATL (you can see an r-speed sticker on it). Now I just gotta figure out what to do with it. I'll probably pull my 1.6 T25 and swap this in ($200 1.6>1.8 kit from FM). I'd rather stick it in my blue Miata and end up with a 100HP upgrade but this should work too.

Oh crap. That car is Chad's from R-Speed. He was killed in it Thanksgiving day of last year.

Now I feel like shit for writing r-speed and asking them who owned it!

Mymiataflys 06-25-2007 08:02 AM

Get him to include the engine mount brackets and you can get by with just the TB adapter. no need to buy the whole kit.

Braineack 06-25-2007 08:28 AM

ohhhhhh, that's the damn car everyone on m.net and clubroadster.net have been talking about.....

I haven't seen anyone talking about it. Links?

I mean it happened a year ago........ahhh ok, had to refrain from bad jokes. I dunno, seriously it will be nice to put engine engein back to work and see it live on.

magnamx-5 06-25-2007 08:19 PM

ouch man that sucks. Still why not put the carcass to good use GL man.

Braineack 06-25-2007 08:24 PM

nice choice of words there Richard

karter74 06-29-2007 12:18 AM

Looks like the engine is back up for sale, did you decide to back out of buying it?

rmcelwee 06-29-2007 05:25 AM

I haven't looked yet but I bet the guy tried to sell it out from under me. I haven't heard from him for a few days but the last time I talked to him I was bitching about the missing parts (false advertising in auction).

getsidewaysd1 06-29-2007 09:25 AM

Damn. I hope you get the car so you can sell all the shit you dont want to us for very cheap!

Braineack 06-29-2007 09:42 AM

I asked him why it's for sale again:

I was watching your previous auction for this engine, but it looks like someone won the auction. Did the deal fall through or something? Do you have compression numbers of the engine?

yea, that is what it is looking like. The guy bought it now, said he was going to pay at a certain time, then failed to fall through with the deal after I indicated that I need the cash asap for some personal financial concerns on my end. I don't have a compression number, but like I said in the auction, i will guarantee this engine for up to 60days to run correctly, (minus the aftermarket parts). I have a car shop here in Hattiesburg, and do not plan on skipping town anytime soon. Thanks for your interest!

jwarriner 06-29-2007 09:54 AM

Same basic response I got...

Well, that's quite nice if you know him. I have no problem selling this engine to whoever send me the cash first. He said he would send paypal, but I have yet to see anything, and I have indicated that I have to sell this engine/car ASAP because of financial concerns on my end. When someone says they will send the money at a certain time, I kinda try to hold them to their word and if your friend wants the engine, then he will honor the original auction, and I will cancel this one.

Thanks,
Jonathan

I suppose so. I didn't think it was that bad when I wrote it. Here's what I said:

Didn't this already get sold:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=270136753541

I know the buyer and he has not indicated that the deal isn't going through. Seems a bit shady.

magnamx-5 06-29-2007 02:08 PM

maybe i can get it for 20$ then  everybody lowball him. WTF 100 bids and still only 110$ dammit i shoulda been nicer to that first guy. rmcelwee you should get ebay on his ass hard.

Mymiataflys 06-30-2007 07:08 AM

what parts were you bitching about? was he including the map/knocksensor?

rmcelwee 06-30-2007 10:21 AM

The guy is being very secretive (IMHO) with what is on the car, etc. The ad says it is an FM kit but parts are missing (IC, etc). He has told me a bunch of stuff and has never come through on any of it.

rmcelwee 07-01-2007 03:32 PM

I paid the guy yesterday and he still hasn't ended the other auction. I should bid $10,000,000 on it right now to kill it!
