$650 quickjack
 

I'm at a local discount store right now looking at a quickjack 5000 for $650 - but only box one and two, not the hydraulic motor. Anybody who has one of these, how easy would it be to rig up a cheap Chinese hydraulic motor with this thing? It seems like a great deal with a bit of diy but I don't know how easy it would be to fettle.

Extremely easy. Just a few quick connects and hydraulic hose.

Looks like eBay sells what you need too. $250-$300 12vdc and 120v

Thank you! I am now the proud owner of box one and two (of three), of a quickjack bl-5000slx. I'll have to do an inventory and figure out what I'll need to get it all working. I've wanted one of these for some time but it never quite became a priority.

I love my QuickJack. I have the 12v setup and use a Miata battery as the source. I never worry about cords and the battery is very portable. I just throw it on trickle charger between uses.

Could anybody take some photos of the power unit? I'm going to try to match it as closely as possible, there are a lot of Chinese hydraulic power units on the market. Any known specs would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks!

Mine is only the 3500. Holds the c3 but not the SS.

It appears that the new units are single capacity with an apportioning valve rather than two capacity, and they take about 2.3 liters of fluid, which strikes me as very little, but the lines are pretty short and the cylinders small. I can get a 4 liter single capacity rated at 1.6kW and 3200psi off of eBay for about $184, which strikes me as more than fair, and way more than this system needs. I'll have to figure out the apportioning valve to get both sides the same pressure equally, that's probably a common part, but I'm not really familiar with hydraulics.

One last quick question for you, I'm putting together my inventory and it looks like I can get most of this stuff fairly cheaply - do you know what the hose fitting size is on your quickjack? 1/4", 3/8", 1/2"?

1/4" NPT... I'd imagine the bigger units are the same.

Also, i'd get some quality quick connect fittings. They will be flat face / no spill. You can probably get them at a parker store (or whatever hydraulic store is by you) or mcmaster. Low quality ones will leak.

FYI, I did a lot of research on getting replacement fittings. These are them.

For posterity, the fitting sizes are 3/8 ORB at the pump and the cylinder. All the fittings on the hoses are 1/4 NPT.
