sorry for the long start, just as i am about to scrub the tires the guy runs out with the mop to get some oil some guy droped infront of me. ended up lining up with the only miata i have ever seen there ever. it was a stock nb.

cjernigan 06-01-2007 01:02 AM

Nice video, poor N/A NB didn't know what hit him. Maybe he'll grow balls and go turbo.
Good time BTW.

akaryrye 06-01-2007 02:27 AM

looks good, but damnit that front end needs some skin. Are you still doing a lot of work on the engine?

Al Hounos 06-01-2007 08:15 AM

sweet. i can't believe you're still driving it around like that though.

Braineack 06-01-2007 08:21 AM

come on, put the panels back on

magnamx-5 06-01-2007 08:34 AM

On the other vid it looks like you 0-60'ed in just shy of 6 seconds and 0-100 in about 13 not to shabby. Maybe ill turn mine up abit once i get the clutch broken in. And buy a camera i am envius of all your footage MXV :D

SloS13 06-01-2007 11:05 AM

nice vid :)

What do you have done suspension-wise?

I know if I tried a standing wheel spin, my car would shake itself to death.

mxv 06-01-2007 11:25 AM

i dont try to whore, i just remember when putting together my setup i never saw ANY videos, once people turbo its like they never share it.

suspension is ground controls with agx's and some homemade shock mounts and fat cat bump stops. i dont know much about suspension theory for drag racing, but someone was telling me stock is the way to go.

i am really going to try to get a 8.5 out of it when i get the camber zero'd out and figure out the best tire pressure and get my torsen in. then once i get that done its time for a little more power and try for a 8.2 with my body panels all on :gay:

talked to the owner of the nb after the race and hes looking into a begi kit i think he said. i pointed him to this site for some research.

jayc72 06-01-2007 11:35 AM

You are still running a 1.6 diff?

mxv 06-01-2007 11:38 AM

1.8 open :td: i do not suggest it:nono:

magnamx-5 06-01-2007 11:39 AM

For tire pressure just run your about 25 or so psi these tires have stiff sidewalls anyway so you can atleast get a few MPH out of the expansion. The run was very clean man like i said before you did very well. Great driving.

jwarriner 06-01-2007 12:06 PM

I bet with front skin you'd pickup 1-2mph in the 1/8th.

mxv 06-01-2007 01:54 PM

man i think i agree. it really feels like it struggles at 60 mph, looking at my vacum gauge i have to give it about 4 more in/hg to stay at the same speed than i had to. i am hoping the extra weight vs the loss of drag will be minimal. itll help counter some of the weight i think. at 100mph the car feels like it stops moving.

still getting 24 mpg though :) 2 better than stock, and i beat the shit out of it every time i drive it now since i dont commute with it

Braineack 06-01-2007 02:00 PM

well...nows a good time to make fiberglass molds of your panels...

Arkmage 06-01-2007 03:08 PM

It's good to see that CSCC still has some grass roots guys. Some of the most enjoyable times I've ever had with cars was hang'n out at CSCC autoXs.

mxv 06-01-2007 03:17 PM

yea man me too! but now the university is kicking us out and we dont hold our own events now! now we attend as many other events as we can together and still have cookouts and repair days and putting a few beers down togeher. looking for other venues we can have events at but its a long struggle :(

my shitty 96whp car gets about 7mph on the long straight at hallett (85mph vs like 92mph) with the hard top. I bet he'll get a ton more than that considering he's well into 2x the power...and probably a similar trap speed.

jwarriner 06-01-2007 10:03 PM

I was erring on the conservative side. I used to get 2-3mph in the 1/4th by taking the wing off my Talon.
