1000hp Twin turbo '04 GTO on ebay

I randomly search around on ebay at cars I lust over and just came across this one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ponti...fCarsQ5fTrucks

"This is an incredibly well-built car using only the best parts and professional performance experts with which no expense was spared nor short-cut taken."

Professionally built with worm gear clamps and all!!!!

Really? Upwards of 25psi and using worm gear clamps? Good luck with that!

kotomile 09-12-2010 11:49 AM

Hey, at least if it blows a pipe off they're all nice and accessable.

viperormiata 09-12-2010 12:00 PM

If the pipes are beaded/lipped then worm clamps are fine, duh ;)

Talk about one hell of a sleaper car though, I mean except for the loud spool, lol.

Oscar 09-12-2010 12:16 PM

who needs a bellhousing anyway

WTF is up with that?

I like how they wrap the hoses furthest from the turbo, but nothing else.

I've had cars with worm gear clamps on beaded pipes, they fail.

Why did they leave the back-seat in, and why is the cage unpainted?

"While the pictures and videos will give you some idea what the car is like, they will in no way explain or demonstrate what this car sounds like in person or what it is capable of when driven as intended. For that, you'll need to step up to the plate in person"

Full_Tilt_Boogie 09-12-2010 01:13 PM

I like how in the video he says its making 750hp but (with some easy modifications) it CAN make 1000hp

Doppelgänger 09-12-2010 01:37 PM

What a pile of shit.

levnubhin 09-12-2010 03:49 PM

Do not want.

I like the disconnected sway bar just chillin there

chicksdigmiatas 09-12-2010 05:06 PM

I hate the way that it will suck up water if you drive in the rain. Hydrolock anyone?

I'm thinking destroyed turbine blades when water drops hit it at 15k rpms.

And +1 on bellhousing wtf?!

GregTSi 09-12-2010 05:44 PM

lolwut.

Id imagine that there is normally just a tin there, a dust sheild.
Idk why ou would take it off though, on the off chance that a little pebble got up in there it could cause problems.

pdexta 09-12-2010 06:25 PM

Worst 1000hp burnout evarrrr.

curly 09-12-2010 06:33 PM

I think it was half burn out, half launch. And half fail.

18psi 09-12-2010 06:44 PM

100% fail 100% of the time.

Had he really 1000hp under the hood those tires would be spinning til 100mph

He says in the video that the car is 750hp, but has the potential to make 1000.
Which sets of major BS alarms.
1) Why is he advertising it as "1000hp" if its never made more than 750
2) probably not even making 750
3) what a homo

Waterjet anyone? +1 on the worst 1000hp burn out ever. I fried way better tire in my car nearly stock than that doucher could ever manage.

Fireindc 09-12-2010 09:35 PM

Wow, that video just added more fail to this thread.

SlideRuler 09-12-2010 10:44 PM

why have backseats at all if this cage makes it impossible for anyone to sit there? Unless of course, they're for some reason unable to be removed.

catonakeyboardinspace 09-13-2010 07:37 AM

Note to potential buyer of this: My volvo can burn out just as good as that. I just saved someone 15 grand.

kotomile 09-13-2010 09:46 AM

Professionally built also != gauge pod attached to A pillar with screws left over from some carpentry.

RyanRaduechel 09-13-2010 05:37 PM

lol its also advertised as a manual transmission, its an automatic...

"In this case, the paint's color "Quicksilver" really DOES tell you something more about the car."

gospeed81 09-13-2010 07:29 PM

I like the preheated intercooler piping.

Also, rear mount fail.

And wtf with no wastegate exit pipe? Somebody failed Fluid Dynamics.

dgmorr 09-13-2010 08:09 PM

It's not THAT bad.

so sad...

fmowry 09-14-2010 12:37 PM

Of all the things wrong, I don't see a problem with that. The point of WG dumps is to point the friggin hot exhaust away from parts that can't take the heat. This one is dumping behind the car, just like the exhaust.

I think his point was that it would actually flow better with some amount of a tube on it. Hence the fluid dynamics comment.

If by better you mean with a set flow rate then yes.

I'd worry about fluttering pressure behind that wastegate that may or may not allow 5.7L to overspin the turbos.

EWGs are win, but I'd feel a whole lot better with some pipe behind it to keep constant backpressure behind the plunger.

Maybe the Internets have desensitized me, but I have seen a LOT worse than this.

kotomile 09-14-2010 01:21 PM

Sure, but this is being advertised as some sort of spared-no-expense professionally tuned car, and that's clearly not the case.

I don't think anyone would argue that this is as bad as it gets.
