Now that I'm using WI, I'm wondering if I can use the water from my R.O. system instead of distilled water. I have a soft water system that is supposed to take out the harsh minerals, THEN the water is run through the R.O. system to filter it.

Any ideas?

For those wondering, RO=reverse osmosis

A typical RO system removes ~95% of minerals, inorgainic (synthetic) solids, and salts. But because healthy drinking water contains certain minerals, some have a final stage calcium carbonate filter to add these minerals back into the water. Calcium carbonate is also known as chalk, marble, and limestone. Wouldn't want that squirting into my engine.

If you don't have the calcium filter, RO water is still marginally less pure than distilled water, but also is less acidic. So IMHO it would be fine.

higher than that, out of a good RO system the TDS will read 1-5PPM.
Now RODI will remove the rest of the minerals.

the water machines in grocery stores and at walmart are big RO filters, since they're inspected regularly it's actually pretty good water, The local krogers is never above 1-2ppm on my meter so I've used that for my saltwater fishtank. Not bad for 25 cents a gallon.
