I've seen two in the U.S. that were "legal"..or at least had valid tags and insurance. There is a way to do it. I wouldn't part it, I'd put a 6-spd in it and walk ass.

kdizzfsho! 01-05-2011 04:10 PM

Oh my fuck, I can haz? I would buy this in a heartbeat if I had the $$. Definitely wouldn't part it. Keep it and find a way to insure it and make it street legal. Too bad it's not the older one, cause then you could put antique tags and register it a lot easier....

NA6C-Guy 01-05-2011 07:47 PM

Those engines in stock form are shit. Don`t waste your time. A friend owned one which was a single owner car from Japan and in immaculate shape an he always had issues with it.

Yup, take a couple of years to give it a good freshening up..good project time until it's excempt from inspection/emissions.

All rotary engine have "issues"..mostly pertaining to the "rats nest". With a bit of patience and replaceing all the shitty rubber lines with silicone, 90% of problems are eliminated. Ditching the stock turbos for a single is another way to reduce headaches. The engine itself isn't bad.

kdizzfsho! 01-06-2011 09:45 AM

Yeah, rotary engines can definitely be made to be reliable. Stock tt setup would definitely have to go IMO and beating up on the car every single time you drive it will definitely help shorten the life span of any rotary. I know they say to take them to the redline every once in a while to get rid of carbon build up, but c'mon now. Haha. They just need some TLC and someone who know's what they're doing and they'll make alllllll of your wildest dreams come true

Hahaha. Funny you should mention that.... I was JUST about to order the DIY kit that FM has with a manifold and DP but then I blew my motor about 2 weeks ago. No compression in cylinders 1-3 and about 80 in 4. I wish I had pics to show you. Lol. It's completely unrelated to the exhaust leak coming from the manifold, and I'm about 99% sure that it was caused by a huge fuck up compliments of my JR Powercard or possibly a vaccum line or something because it was running pig rich before and all of a sudden got incredibly lean. Hmm..

Going NA for a while now then FM2/3 kit probably. Dammit.... :crx:

I know the feeling. You'll have it back up and better. New engine = peace of mind for future mods. Unless you're like me and the turbo takes a shit a few months after replacing the engine lol
If your head is still good, you can grab any 94-05 short block and toss it in there.

Lol yeah, that's the plan and what I'm hoping at least. This will be the third engine that's been in the car. Plan on dropping the new engine in and starting fresh. Kit I had was old so I'm actually kind of glad that this happened cause now I'll have an excuse to upgrade and come back better than before. We'll see how it all pans out though.... Haha

Doppelgänger 01-06-2011 03:01 PM

I smell poor engine management.

Yep, I bet that's EXACTLY what it is. That's what I get for running a JR Powercard + shitty conservative tune. It was what was on the card and I should have upgraded it well before now. But that's okay. I'll have an MS or a DIYPNP on ASAP, learn how to tune it and getting running running right bone stock, then add moar goodies.

Btw, the head is definitely not good. Lol. Started melting, causing metal to melt and shavings to go EVERYWHERE including on my spark plugs, which were in the process of being pushed out because of all of the pressure. the fuck? lol

Argh go MSquirt FTW.

If you want a 1.8 I have a 1.8VVT longblock but AR is kinda far so would have to ship.

Bingo. That's the plan. Just gotta get the $$ for one after the new motor is dropped in. Lol

And thanks for the offer, but I've already found one with about 65k on it and it's currently en route from Alabama I think.

davehkus 01-06-2011 06:25 PM
