2014 Formula 1

I am a huge Formula 1 fan, I watch it religiously. How many of you are excited for the 2014 Engine regulations ?

I for one am very pleased at the reintroduction of turbos. However i wish the would not restrict fuel so much. I am hoping for it to mix things up a bit. It would be nice to see some good engine failures in melbourne.

Very excited as long as vettel isn't constantly winning. Which he will.

FRT_Fun 10-25-2013 11:04 PM

I watch it from time to time. Usually have it on in the background or something. I admit I don't know much about regulations and specifics about the cars/drivers.

The fuel regs seem daunting, but knowing the amount of money they throw at R&D they'll be going faster before you know it.

I actually wished they would have went to I4s instead of V6s like they originally planned.

I certainly didn't start out as a Vettel fan, but I've warmed up to him over the years. You can't argue with the stats -- this is the Vettel era. I'm actually following him with a lot of interest wondering if he'll overtake Schumaker.

yeah, alot of people really hate vettle, but i think what he is doing is amazing. He does have a good car, but he drives that car at the limit and he is a very smart and consistent driver.

I dont think that RedBull will dominate next year, i think that we will see a good mixup with the new engines and i think McLaren will be back on forum next year.

thenuge26 10-26-2013 08:58 AM

Yeah the Red Bull car is good, but Weber is 5th in the drivers championship right now. Either Weber has become slow and senile and that's why he's retiring, or Vettel really is as good as he looks. I think it's more the latter personally. I mean he runs a few tenths faster in quali, then puts 2-4 seconds on the field on the first lap of EVERY RACE.

ctdrftna 10-26-2013 09:58 AM

You could argue that the team supports Vettel over Weber, and rightfully so. He uses his talent to establish a points lead early in the season and the team will naturally back the higher placed driver. With Mark retiring i don't see why they would not back Vettle 100% and keep Mark fast enough to ensure a constructors trophy.

Im by no means a Vettel lover. Im a Button fan, but i can give credit where credit is due. Now the Hamilton fans on the other hand......

Full_Tilt_Boogie 10-26-2013 10:28 AM

so is it finally happening? because its been years since they said that they were going back to turbo, and I've been waiting...

Don't disregard Mark's DNFs because of magical mechanical failures while Seb's car has been 100% reliable except for a failed alternator at the UK grand prix. That will put a hurting on your point scoring abilities.

Still, I dislike vettel (malaysia GP, enough said) and I hope the 2014 regs will lead to some equalization throughout the field.

Silverstone 2010

Have you read up on RBR traction control using the KERS system? And how Webber's car wasn't making the same noise at Singapore?

Webber hasn't been getting equal equipment for years.

Too bad he crashed in Korea in 2010, would have likely had the WDC.

z31maniac 10-26-2013 10:34 AM

Now as far as the new regs............not a fan. At what point will Formula 1 not matter because they are only a few seconds a lap faster than GP2 cars?

But then again I hold a different opinion than a bunch of my buddies that follow the sport. I want a HARD spending cap and decreased technical regulation.

You get these tires, it must fit inside this box, must pass safety, GO!

If they really wanted to "increase the show" they would remove much of the aero, up the HP and ditch all the gimmicky stuff.

I think that the traction control is genius!! if its real.

I am all about the technical side, I would love to see a hard spending cap of decent amount and free regulations for the teams to do as they see fit. I am all for the turbos too, i think it has real merit and i think the engine needs to be part of the equation. I cant wait to see the development throughout the 2014 season.

I'm excited for the possibility of a F1 race in NJ. I would be all over that.

This

I'm a huge fan but I can't stand watching Vettel win over and over.

I'm curious to see how the rest of the driver line-ups turn out. Kimi going to Ferrari was wholly unexpected by me...but it should make it interesting.

ctdrftna 10-27-2013 10:09 AM

Vettel does it again 4-time world champion.
