So glad I didn't buy the '14 SRT8 a few months ago. I want this car.

Thoughts? Anyone else been reading up on these?

Does nothing for me. Lots of power though, so that's neat I guess.

18psi 09-15-2014 11:33 AM

Its amusing. Would I own one? Probably not in a million years unless someone gave it to me.

thenuge26 09-15-2014 11:44 AM

Weighs as much as 2 miatas. I think I read 4,400lbs. No thanks.

Efini~FC3S 09-15-2014 12:07 PM

Yea...it's something like 450lbs heavier than the camaro z28...where are they hiding all that weight?

700+ hp on a factory car with a warranty...that's pretty nutty.

Vashthestampede 09-15-2014 12:09 PM

Keep in mind, this would replace my '07 Altima and be a daily driver for me. I'd still have the Miata to play with, an '04 Envoy and a '07 3500 Silverado.

I liked the SRT8 when I test drove it, my only complaint was it was underpowered. Problem solved. lol

18psi 09-15-2014 12:10 PM

I think it's mostly the chassis/frame.

I was lurking a bunch of the new camaro/mustang forums, and their weight redux threads are pretty sad - 90% of the posts are "JUST ADD MOAR POWER" and the ones that actually try to reduce weight hit a dead end real quick

TurboTim 09-16-2014 09:31 AM

For a daily, go with the 4 door.

There is some cool tech in that car. If you are still keeping your miata it sounds like a legit DD if you can afford it. For the money, there are lots of good options. I am not sure that I would take this car over a new C7, but 2 seats vs 4 seats. I do like what they did with it. The digital dash is pretty cool. I would take one if someone gave it to me for sure!

Stealth97 09-16-2014 10:41 PM

I'm not a cry-sler fan by any means, but I'd take this over a C7, or pretty much anything in its price range today... Except for maybe the F-150 raptor

z31maniac 09-17-2014 09:27 AM

I'm seriously in love with the Charger.

I don't have $60k to spend on a DD so it's not happening. But I'm glad that bonkers cars like these are being built.

Vashthestampede 09-17-2014 09:28 AM

Tim - I was looking at the Charger as well, but I think I'd go with the Challenger. I have a 4 door now and hardly ever use it as a 4 door. 2 Doors, 4 seats works for me!

I have my doubts about it after doing some reading. They're talking about a possible limited run and a huge mark up on these. Comments have been made that there will NOT be a limited run and dealers will have to be within reason, but its all interweb jabber.

Once its available for preorder I'm going to Dodge to see what the real story is. My father is the one that showed it to me and is pushing me to get it, which makes me feel even more so like its a good idea. :bigtu:

I thought I saw something somewhere saying these were a little underrated as well. Supposedly capable of 200mph too if aero permits.

Edit: Yup. Dyno-Mighty Challenger SRT Hellcat, Camaro ZL1 Hit The Rollers - Motor Trend

A good reason not to buy it, is that it's built by Dodge.

Besides that, it's a good looking car.

Full_Tilt_Boogie 09-21-2014 08:20 PM

What a tremendously powerful ocean liner.

shooterschmidty 09-21-2014 08:22 PM

Personally, I think that challengers are one of the few cars that look better in pictures than in person. The power, and price, are impressive though if they're actually available at anything close to msrp. It'd be an awesome car to tell your grandkids about in forty years.

good2go 09-21-2014 09:16 PM

Ehh, I'd pass this up in a heartbeat for the new Z28. :2cents:

turbofan 09-21-2014 11:03 PM

I can. Think of at least ten (automotive) things I'd do with $70k before buying this car, but after all that it'd be pretty sick.

High on the list among those things is a clean used CTS-V (in any form you choose) + some bolt ons.

shooterschmidty 09-23-2014 07:38 PM

Or you could get this alternative Fiat product for less money and have the automotive personification of coitus.

That would probably result in litteral coitus as well.
