Default 03 Audi A4 1.8t build, advice?

I really don't want to sort through one of those big forums, especially with so many options already driving my crazy. So if anyone here knows something, please tell me. We are having the Manifold, intercooler piping(2.5 inch), downpipe and exhaust (3 inch) made by lovefab. We are using a GT30series (71, What do you think?) with an external Tial wastegate. The owner wants 350Whp for now going to 500whp with built motor/track ***** status.

Must the BOV be recirculating with the chipped ecu?
Is a high performance fuel pump necessary? Walbro 255 or Bosch?
Is a 3 Bar map necessary?
440cc injectors suitable for 500whp or just 350whp?
Which ECU chipper is the best and most flexible? He is fine paying for a rechip when the engine gets built, of course.

Were kinda shooting for the best possible build, mainly because it is fun spending someone else's money!

Thanks!

I bet it does have to recirculated because its still using the stock ecu unless it magically starts using MAP for its fuel calculations.

I doubt it because with a rechip it will still be running withing stock pressures, just larger injectors. If the miata can do it, im sure the audi can too.

Are you going to be running 3 bars of boost or more? if not then probably no.

440cc is probably not even 350hp on that engine, id get at least 550's for 350hp and larger for 500whp.

I dont know, but pulling this one out of my *** maybe APR tuning?

Totally guessing on all your questions based on knowledge I gained from the miata.

Maybe this isn't what you were asking, but Audi is actually made by Volkswagen, not Mazda...

Go with the REVO guys, you won't be disappointed.

You can also get them to unlock their chip so anyone with a laptop can tune it.

how much power can the gear train on those things handle without significant cost/upgrade? I mainly ask because I've thought about doing the same.

Thanks for the tip, that's more of what we are looking for, except there aren't any all wheel drive dynos anywhere around.

The audi all wheel drive system is generally considered indestructible. We'll see about that.

The Audi/VW ECU is finnicky. Some people get away with venting to atmosphere with no CEL, others don't. If the owner absolutely has to have the BOV sound, get a Turbosmart hybrid valve.

For the 350hp level the fuel pump is fine. 500+ is pushing it.

I don't know how you are planning on adding a different MAP sensor to the Bosch system. The motronic ME7 uses the MAF as the primary load signal with the MAP as a backup.

I made 337 to the wheels on a stock 1.8t with 550cc injectors, pushing close to 80% duty cycle. You will need WAY more injector to get to 500.

I'm not sure about your ECU tuner question. With that much power you are just on the fringe of having to go standalone.

550' won't cut it.
3 bar may be neccassary to get you to the 500 mark.
GT30 series may be at it's higher limits at that power...you may need to look into a GT35 to get you there.
You will want a MAF delete file...I forget the name of the company my friend swears by. There is so much stuff available for those cars it makes me sick to the stomach...
My friend has 18x10 on the back and is not rubbing with 235 unless someone sits in the back...I want that!!! lol

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how it turns out. As long as I get to spend lots of someone else's money, it will be fun.

vta is bad on these cars, an intake will let u hear the bov nice and clear anyway, , u should recirc
pump should be just fine
550 for 300's,,, 900cc for 500hp lol ,,, my cousin is doing it right now

go to water fest and have it chipped there for much cheaper than a shop in the area,

or

look online for the closet place that does it

It's still a haul from you but P&L motorsports in Chicago has an AWD dyno and one of the best tuners in the country. Well respected tuner of all Subaru ECUs and AEM among others. They have done work with VWs so contact them and see if they can tune the Audi for you. Jorge is their tuner. The local Suby guys (here in MD) have flown him in for tuning sessions because he's that good.

Before he gets too involved, he should sell his A4 and get a B5 S4.

I almost bought one of those before I bought my Miata.

My friends big turbo b6 A4 (350ishwhp) couldn't pull from a chipped S4.

only if he's replaced the turbos and ready to get fucked by electrical garbage on that car. Actually, you'd have to be a ******* moron to buy one. There's a reason you can get a once $48k car for $10k after 6 years.

I agree- very nice driving car but the engineering seems so afterthought. Just too much **** stuff in too little space.

We'll call it a modern day FD RX7.

And there are plenty of 400hp++ S4s on pump and stock internals running 11s.

Lets discuss badass 20,000$ spent.

the rx7 had a pos motor. The S4 has shitty stock turbos, and everything else around the engine internals is ****. Two have gone through my family, one burned to the ground. They suck. Any car company in the world has mastered assembling a motor. Its all the **** around the rotating assembly that sucks. I'd say the b5 s4 is the only car on earth which is less reliable than the TT and b6 shitboxes. Those cars are ******* pathetic.

<=== has been thinking about getting a 1.8T A4 avant as a daily... with the intent to remove everything possible and wire it himself.

My understanding is that 80% of their problems are british... I mean electrical.
