6.0 Powerstroke Fun

We are still trying to figure out what happened. But for some reason this 6.0 spun 2 rod bearings, broke a rod in two pieces, and spit a piston through the block. Seriously, not the rod, but the WHOLE piston through the side of the block. I can't get a good picture of the hole because the motor mount is in the way. :jump:

i don't think its necessary. We already know its low on pistons.

See there's yer problem right there.

JB Weld.

You've got 7 others pistons in there, what's the issue? Unplug that injector, JB the block and just keep running it!

Powerjoke :P

i dispise 6.0L powerstrokes. we have a bunch of f350 in our firetruck flight. Cylinder contribution balence codes are the devil.

240_to_miata 09-06-2009 07:56 PM

are your spark plugs ok??????

slutz4 09-06-2009 08:37 PM

Arent the 7.3 powerstrokes alot more reliable? That sucks anyways. I bet those engines arent cheap.

Stealth97 09-06-2009 09:29 PM

I heard the 6.0 was a joke compared to the 7.3.

Qckslvr 09-07-2009 02:21 AM

the 7.3 is a rock solid engine for the most part.

This will cost the customer 10k for the engine, 3k for the lost core, and 12 hours at 95 an hour to install it.

So yes, it is cheaper to trash the truck and buy another. :(

saedrin 09-07-2009 02:42 AM

Jesus. How many miles on the truck? I've never had the joyous experience of a rod vacating my personal engine before, but my family had a hemi 5.7 shit some conrods out the oil pan on their magnum after it got hydrolocked in a flood. That's a realllll bitch.

What's the large, helix type thing on the upper left of that block??

Stealth97 09-07-2009 03:48 PM

if the 6.0 is anything like the 7.3, thats where the fuel/water separator goes. I got out of the ford tech biz just as the 6.0 was introduced.

Qckslvr 09-08-2009 01:23 PM

105,000 miles.

and the helical thing is what the oil filter sits on. The housing that holds it and the fuel filter is off.

This has to be one of the funniest lines in the last month. Good job, man, well played.
