Daily drove a 01 ITR tribute in 20-21, put 15k miles on it. Sold it in 21 and regretted it ever since. Picked up this 98 on Friday. Getting it prepped and serviced for spring time rips up in the Ozarks. This was peak car, there are others, change my mind
My buddy had a'97 CW (#0187), tracked it a few times and con confirm, they hype is real and it's deserved. Amazing little FWD cars, congrats on the pickup.
Yeah, those things ruled on-track here - you see one on the entry list, you know you are fighting for the crumbs. This was in the road-registered modified classes, where not only did they blow us into the weeds on the straights, they handled as well as us. Then ... they just disappeared. It always mystified me why that happened given their dominance, AFAIK there was no change in the rules which affected them more than the rest of us.
I think you could replicate 98% of the feel with a solid and well thought out build of a clean LS shell. 2600 lbs, 200hp, manual, no nannies to turn off, small a/b pillars aka no blind spots, tons of parts availability. I drove my rep from Houston to UP of MI multiple times and had zero complaints.
I can't be the only one here that's a little annoyed at the giant a/b/c pillars, tall belt line, tiny glass, nannies, tracking, complexity of modern cars? Its nice to drive something that doesn't absolutely need the back up camera's to get out of a parking spot lol. I think I want another LS400 too if I ever see a clean one again for sale. That was also another car I regretted selling. So comfy to drive long distance and the suspension seat was soooo plush,. Anybody else throwing good miles on an old school car?
I had a 98 Integra GSR as a DD for several years from 2008-2010. It was very meh to me. It had AC and revved higher then my 94 miata, those were the big plusses for it. I hated having to look behind me in it. The view areas were horrible. Overall I just don't get the Integra hype.

You spoke this right into my soul.
My daily is a 2004 Land Cruiser, and my wife hates that I eyefuck old LS400/430s everytime we see a clean one.
A local buddy has a DC2R but i havent driven it. I do have some time in a GSR back in the day. Not sure I would pay the tax required for a clean one today when the 8th gen SI exists near the bottom of its depreciation curve, but i understand the draw.
I instructed at an Acura Type R road course event a few years ago at Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, VA. Tech and some other admin things were done Friday evening. There were participants camping in the paddock, and others staying in the various hotels nearby.
My student didn’t show up for the driver’s meeting Saturday morn. A noticeable number of participants were missing. Apparently, these events are more social events than driving events and many of the participants had gotten hammered Friday evening. I heard guys telling stories they were going around the paddock and pissing on other guy's door handles in the middle of the night. My student didn’t show up until after lunch. IIRC, we did most of one session, and then he called it a day. He looked pretty rough.
It was very strange being out on track where most of the cars were identical body style and only a few different colors.
