What should I add next? I'm trying to figure out how to hang the SC on there, but it's heavy. I'll have to hit studs and use string like i did on the header to support it.

Black one (and yellow one) is from a 94 Protege. It fits on a 1.8 miata and leaves the cam gears exposed.

Damn good, now I know what to look for, that's what I want. Is it 94 only, and any special package Protege? Are they hard to come across?

Thanks Paul. I bought the fugly yellow one off Pat. It'll be coated in a more appropriate color once I get it.

So I suppose I need a Protege valve cover gasket to go with it, eh? And fab up a braket to mount my coil packs, and reroute the vaccum hose that's now on the driver side of the VC, to the back where the Protege one is. Anything else I should be aware of?

There is a process to getting it to fit right.... and i have done it a few times.

Take all internal baffles out and clean throughly.

Using a mallet, hit the breather nipple back INTO the valve cover, it will fall out nicely.

Now find a large screw to put in that hole. The trick is to tap out the hole and cross-thread a bolt in the old breather location, put it on from the inside out, this way you don't have a bolt head on the outside. Cut off excess threads and smooth down.

I forget what size drill bit you need, but drill a hole where you see the yellow X in this picture. Then use a rubber mallet to gently press the breather fitting back into the valve cover.

Then make a small 90* elbow to hold the coil-pack onto the valve cover. You can see it here on the pax side.

GREAT info, thanks! Will the single 90* bracket hold the coils firmly enough, or do you put one on each side?

The drivers side bolt will bolt right up like it does on the Miata cover, and the bottom bolt will line up too. I made the bracket to make sure the coil-pack was held in place as Mazda intended. I guess what im saying is that with the 90* bracket, the coil will bolt up just like stock.

Negative, the Miata one works perfectly fine as the gasketed surface is still the same.
