Would anybody care to hazard a guess as to why a box from the Brooklyn Navy Yard just showed up on my desk?
Attachment 240727 I know we have some Semen on the forum here. Which one of you fuckers sent this, what is in it, and which capital crime am I likely to be guilty of if I open it and look inside? |

Still, Brooklyn? B&H is in Manhattan at 34 & 9th. I've spent quite a bit of time (and money) there. I guess they must have an offsite warehouse as well. And what the hell does the Navy have to do B&H? |
I did a search for the building number and it came up as where you ship returns too... Maybe they have a warehouse there or something ???
|
Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out how the Navy is involved in the shipping of commercial photography equipment.

The navy decommissioned the yard in 1966, the Johnson Administration refused to sell the yard to the City of New York for 18 months. When the new Nixon Administration came into power they signed the papers to sell the yard to the city. Leases were signed inside the yard even before the sale of the yard to the City was signed. |
DC has a Navy Yard that isn't for the Navy.

Here in San Diego, we have a Navy Base. Guess who uses it? The Navy. There's a Marine Corps Base, too. Used for... training Marines. Wanna know what they do at the Coast Guard station? If you said "ship packages", you would be wrong. They guard the coast. You'll never guess what goes on at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

OK so DC's Navy Yard does have some Marine Corps barracks around it. It's also the name of a Metro stop. And adjacent to Nationals Park. But I think there is office space and other commercial stuff in it. Like a Rice King and a Trapeze School.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to find an extender that'll do USB2.0 across 300 feet? This little fucker cost $250.
Good point. Sounds like a neat project. |
