I have a pack of 5 pen blanks I bought a decade ago for about $15. Prices have gone up since then, and the wood is now crap compared to the stuff I have. Notice how it's all streaked, instead of the jet black older stock used to be. Think piano keys vs. just looking like regular wood, only a bit darker.

He's a magical space-wizard who is friends with smugglers and drug-runners, and possesses psychic & telekinetic powers, and you don't think he can get his hands on genuine Devaronian Ebony for less than $75 a square foot?
