On the way home I stopped at the gm dealership horde to pick through a few parts, lucky enough to come home and tally up a $3000 list.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335213495 The big turbo has been sitting around for awhile, I've just avoided it until now. A couple of guys were around today getting nosey, asking the owner about truck parts, so I decided to jump on it. Looks to be a Garrett GT37VA. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335213495 This pulley was nothing special to me at first, not even when I saw 2 of them. I just randomly grabbed them, came home to check the numbers and they're NOS Corvette PS pulleys!! |
Vaaaashhh....
I read the eBay card. Didn't get it. Came back, glanced at it, and then it hit me. I lol'd for a minute straight. Great name, lolol. |

The name came up one night at a bonfire with some friends, helping me brain storm a name to use and this was the one we settled on. At first I was reluctant to use it, but now people are starting to know me as "Joey ebay". lol |
That turbo is from a Powerstroke Diesel; I'm 99% sure.

I'm not 100% sure myself, still need to do more research. Quickest thing I can find on it is whatever the p/n brings up. http://www.thedieselstore.com/templa...4-9009&VehNum= |
(goes outside to check turbo on Duramax truck in driveway)
Well now, don't I feel stupid, lol. I saw the rear pedestal style flange and assumed wrongly. Carry $$60,000,000,000 man. |

It's a variable vane turbo. People haven't quite figured out how to hook them up to get that to work.

It's an electronically controlled solenoid. Done through the factory ECU. It's pretty awesome actually.

The one on my TDI (vnt-15) has what looks like a standard waste-gate diaphragm connected to the vanes. Its spring loaded so that min. boost is 0psig, and if you apply a vacuum it increases the restrictiveness for boost so its fail safe for the turbo. But a diesel has a vacuum pump for the control solenoids.

The John Raya Beasties of the Kingdom next to the Parisian Style Flower Cart next to a couple Halo toys.
Those are all from different clients too. The lady with the parisian flower cart was my last landlord and has a house and barn FULL of antiques from around the world. The husband was a big wig for some bank years and years ago. ------- crazy money. |
