I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Neither man, nor technology, maybe not even god; was ready for a flexible space-saving hose.

the original "as seen on TV" pocket hose does the same shit, split down the middle after a hot day. We got a replacement that was broken before we ran water in it. Their factory machine missed crimping the rubber hose inside on the end. never again.
Just like this guy's I just dont like the hardware they use to screw onto the tap, it's very hard to get it to seal with such cheap plastic. I have a feel that guy in the above video cut his own hose... to me it seems like it's just a silicone rubber tube covered in that fabric sleeve; I wouldn't expect it to burst open. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1374157461 |

I like fsae cars. Though, if I were CO state, why not rune more massive ridiculous expansion tunnels on the diffuser? https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1374153556 also note that UTA's 99 car had wings that put their aero download forces directly through the suspension, so no need for stiffer springs or a "Z" spring to account for aero. Also allows the setup of a more compliant car. A pretty awesome design feature that was promptly banned. |

The only aero concept that's banned is ground effects, so no sealing of the undertray, and no fans, or anything to remove the air from under the car. I can't find a good picture of South Dakota School of Mines and Tech's 2012 car, but it's wheels/suspension/aero package could remain in tact with no frame whatsoever. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1374183562 Or to mention Uni Western Austrailia's "twin-cocque" chassis. Rear suspension is a beam axle connected to the undertray, and the front suspension is a simplistic design that's also connected to the undertray. The chassis is then sprung from the undertray. All aero devices are attached to the undertray, which acts as the main chassis. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...68946754_n.jpg I get carried away with this... :D I'm Kettering University's Chief Engineer. |

Can anyone explain to me why sanctioning bodies seem to be universally against development in this area? Why is there no race series or format that permits the use of movable aerodynamic devices? Honestly, I tire of race series that constantly change the rules to ensure "competitive balance." I want 1100 HP Can-Am Porsches and multiple tire manufacturers and fans sucking the air from underneath the car and dammit supercomputers controlling traction and slip angle and no slip starts and everything else if that's what's the fastest on the track. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1374195685 |

My latest project at the shop. The owner basically told me, make it safe, maintain it, and make it run good; I don't care what it costs.
So far I've changed the oil, freed up the choke linkage, tested the rad (flushing tomorrow), cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes, and found the bad ball joint in the parallelogram steering rack which made it a little vague. Tomorrow, we're pumping out the tank, as there's rust colored gas in there. Let's hope that solves the rough idle, as I really don't want to re-work the carbs. :o Attachment 185289 |
