I like your tag. Did you mean to use the old MG slogan?

Yes, I used to have a license plate here in AZ that said "SFTYFST"(see attachment). I was shocked that nobody with a MG had taken it. It was in honor of the first car I bought, a '72 MG Midget. My Miata is honoring the memory, too. It has a slight tranny drip, just like the MG! There's a copy of the plate on a wall in the FM Offices. Now my plate says "IMFLYIN".

Actually, I was going for the accent of Boris Badenov (Rocky & Bullwinkle) as he used to introduce himself. I'm big fan of their 'toons.

First car I worked on was a '73 MG Midget I restored with my Dad. Then we did two MGAs

I know 4 people with blown cars, and they're always fucking with belts / bypass valves / or some random bullshit...but they all think turbo cars are unreliable...even though I don't know what turbo car drivers keep in the trunk in place of belts.

Not a peep out of mine.

buy quality shit and it won't have belt problems.

Couplers, hose, clamps, screw drivers
Just in case. I actually have had a charge pipe come out of a coupler only once. It was my fault, I forgot to tighten the clamp.

The last time I had the car to a track day, just as I got the RA-1s warmed up and was punishing a mustang that didn't want to play by the Red Group rules, just as I was thinking how much fun the rest of the day was going to be and passed the pit exit, I lost PS.:vash: I pulled into the alternate hot pit area & saw the PS/AC belt had shredded and, of course, skewed the SC belt which shredded by the time I was able to get back to the pits. They were easy enough to replace and I always keep a spare belt in the trunk, but I then decided to wait for the ATI Damper before another track day.

I had an IC hose pop off the manifold a couple of times. The engine sees WOT and it sounds like the gates of Hell have opened and all the demons are rushing out. Scared the pee outa' me the first time. Not so much the second time. Good thing I learned from the MG to carry tools in the trunk.

I think you'll like the turbo better. I had an m45 for a few years and it was nice. Very OE. Not like yours of course. But the turbo will allow you to "keep going" for more when 350 gets boring. :D

I have a fluidampr pulley which is flatter and smother than the stock balancer, the SC pulley bolts to the flat face of the FD and spins an 8 rib belt, the alignment is perfect and the tensioner on my head unit very good, I don't have problems period.

I would like to switch to a cog setup but oh wells.

Wow, and I thought the 6 rib were the cat's ass. I believe FM is going to try & make the ATI damper I bought for the Uber work when they install the turbo.

I won't be able to sleep next Wednesday night!

Buy quality shit that was engineered correctly from the start and you won't have any problems. My MP62 is so maintenance-free, I have to make up a reason to open the hood. And I test all the shit that Tom @ FFS makes.

Well I must say, the Turbo is a different beast! I've attached a Dyno run that compares the Uber to the GT3071R. It must be noted that I'm currently limited to 8psi due to the OEM fuel pump. As soon as I can get an upgrade we'll get into the semi-serious rwhp.

y8s 05-24-2007 10:00 AM

your 8psi and my 8psi are very not equal. .2L makes a nice difference.

m2cupcar 05-24-2007 10:20 AM

no kidding - those curves are VERY similar IMO, except for the very low rpm torque. More boost will turn that turbo into a beast.
