Almost no more miata, again.

Well to start off the week I got clipped by a BMW on my way to work. My fender and door are fucked :vash:. I find it almost humorous that today is exactly 4 months from my other accident (11/15/09). Also even more humorous that the other accident happened right after I installed the MS/WB, this weekend I didnt the same install. Seriously WTF!!!!!!!!!

My mother showed up at the scene and said maybe I should stop putting money into the car and take this as a sign. I want to finish my car so bad but Im starting to get a bit worried. :dunno: shit keeps happening to me as I get closer to finally finish a car.

I felt like letting you fags know. :giggle:

flier129 03-15-2010 11:02 AM

Ah, power thru it. I've wanted to part-out my car about 5 or 6 times now.

Recently I've been trying to get my car running again, had to get a new slave cylinder, coil-pack, t-stat housing, all kinds of hoses and clamps, and a few other things I forgot. All of that in the past week :( and I don't even have a turbo to look forward to....

It's what you like to do and when you do "finish" it you'll have tingle feelings inside.

Braineack 03-15-2010 12:15 PM

dude. you fail.

magnamx-5 03-15-2010 12:17 PM

you have some rotten luck man, it might be a sign but if you enjoy doing it then it is nvr wrong.

buffon01 03-15-2010 01:04 PM

Damn I have the miataturbo curse O_o

boileralum 03-15-2010 01:47 PM

Quit staring at the dancing light show known as the wideband?

leatherface24 03-15-2010 02:02 PM

you need to start driving a bicycle...so you can be out of your missery soon. On a serious tip, post pics. I want to see how bad teh damage is. And I hope you beat that assholes face in

FRT_Fun 03-15-2010 02:09 PM

That sucks, I've had minor set backs but nothing like that. I agree, power through it. Don't think of it as a warning to stop, but as a test to see if you are WORTHY!

My Miata is cursed too. My mom swore on it. I got it thinking...no Mom...it's because you guys don't know how to maintain anything, and keep driving when out of oil and overheating.

This car's on it's fourth motor...and still giving me shit.

Still not quitting though (at least not the Miata, maybe the turbo and all).

Bond 03-15-2010 02:22 PM

You should drive more offensive.

turotufas 03-15-2010 02:35 PM

I just sat for 2 minutes watching that you fail backflip. Anyways, that sucks. You need to go get some Chinese and hope you get a good fortune cookie.

How defensive can you be when motherfuckers keep taking red lights and ignoring stop signs when coming into high traffic intersections :dunno:

Thats why you drive offensively... sometimes I believe that being the scary driver is the safer driver. People stay the fuck away.

Just keep doing what you love to do, and you will be there soon! I have the "slushbox" curse, and the miataturbo curse. second engine, still band-aids, still wrinkles to iron out, and still loving to work on it!!
My car's LH fender got hit in a parking lot, while I just went in to nab something really quick. Fucker took off, out 500 bucks out of pocket for a shipped pre-painted. Stock driveshaft went out, seals in T2 turbo blew, and still no MS, WB, COPs, Tiens, LSD... and still no bonus pay money to fund such things. :vash:

buffon01 03-15-2010 03:43 PM

Now that you mentioned the offensive/defensive driving, both accidents happened while I was just crusing and not being an asshole. I havent had an accident while being a dick on the road.....

Sparetire 03-15-2010 08:06 PM

Its not neccesarily being offensive as it is being proactive. I have never had a car to car accident, and I am 27 and drive a LOT for someone who does'nt do it for a living. And honestly I drive fairly rapidly most of the time, especially around corners that I know in good weather :)

-Look around the intersection even if you are cruising through on a green.
-I basically never stay in anyone's blind spot unless I have to and I also avoid changing lanes with anyone the next lane over from where I am going unless I have too.
- Stay the eff in the middle lane when possible. I avoid the right lane like the plague on a 3 lane street. Its a kill zone. People cannot effing drive. I dont know if it is just the US, or the whole world or what, but people cannot effing drive. On a two lanes I stay right and leave a lot of space and try to keep my left open.
-If it is a white Chevy/GMC truck: RUN
-If it is a champagne Buick (gayest color ever, including the name): RUN
-If it is a Cavalier: RUN
-If the driver has blue hair or blue blockers: RUN
-If it is a Lexus SUV: RUN

I will seriously get away from any of the above with reason if its remotely possible.

I survived Phoenix this way, including a nasty roll over that came about a foot from wrecking my day/life/car.

Let me know next time you get hit by a tractor trailer. Then, buy another miata anyway.

Drive like a dick all the time, or else this is what might happen. About once a month I used to drive slow-ish, and that's when I lost it on 95. Never again.

gospeed81 03-16-2010 09:42 AM

Buffoon:

Ride a motorcycle for two years...and I guarantee you that you will never get in another car accident again, or at least not with someone hitting you.

And yes, most people stay out of my way when I'm driving like a lunatic...except the cops...and they're assholes.

Landrew 03-16-2010 10:09 AM

2nd that motorcycle bit. Makes you assume everyone around you cannot see you, that your invisible. You can't afford to get even a slight bump from a vehicle while your on a bike or your down.

Start with dritbikes to gain crazy skills, get street bike to get street awareness and then a rear wheel drive car and you can drive anything really well.

TimR 03-16-2010 10:11 AM

No matter how you drive, accidents will happen they are unavoidable. Driving one way or another might increase or decrease your chances but just about every week I have some asshole who almost hits me. Shit happens thankfully so far the miata hasn't been hit. It's just the way driving is everyone has there heads up there ass.

Just your luck that you were involved if I were you fix what you have collect the rather generous insurance checks they normally hand out and make your miata do wheelies.

Miatas are extremely small cars on a side note hard to see especially if you have suspension.

gospeed81 03-16-2010 10:12 AM

On a motorcycle you assume you're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, and that the cagers are all zombies, but smart ones that figured out it's easier to catch prey on four wheels, and have found that bikers are incredibly easy targets.

In traffic on a bike I seriously ride around repeating in my head: "Who's gonna try to kill me next while looking down sideroads, adjust lane position for the guy that just move into the next lane and is 30ft ahead where I'm in his blind spot, etc.

This is why I bought a miata and not a bike... although sometimes I feel as though it wouldnt be much different

So to top it off the asshole’s argument now is that he was already into the street when I collided into him. Wow just motherfucking wow. I feel like skullfucking this asshole. Here are the pics I took just after the collision occurred. As you can see it is clearly this ass-to-mouth cocksucker son of a bitch was not already into the street. The front of my car is in perfect condition and the damage from the actual collision starts on the fender pass the tire and continues into the door.

I shouldve been a dick and claim back and neck pain and fuck this ------’s insurance as much as I could. You cant be nice and fair in this fucking city.

This is the intersection

I don't understand, every road in FL is straight, how do you keep crashing...

buffon01 03-16-2010 12:41 PM

Motherfuckers keep flying out of intersections like that.

wayne_curr 03-16-2010 12:45 PM

Oh man that blows :(

Its pretty clear by the picture that he was at fault but try telling his insurance company that.

buffon01 03-16-2010 12:57 PM

Well I really dont have to

1 I have right of way
2 The stop sign is about 15 feet back from where he merged into my path
3 Police report and citations point to him as responsible
4 My inhouse attorney doesnt have a problem handling my shit again.(free of charge) :giggle:

Also the other driver only defensive argument is that he was already on the street, which is obviously not true as he hit me almost by the door.

Turbo_4 03-16-2010 01:43 PM

Karma?

Just fight the insurance and get as much as you can. They initially offered in the $2K range and I ended up with ~$4,200 (and the car).

Chris

This.

Had an insurance company lowball me on a motorcycle once.

I fought, stubbornly for two months. Ended up getting strong market value for the bike, all my gear replaced, chiro visits paid for, and some time and trouble. It all went towards buying a very nice bike a few months later.

chicksdigmiatas 03-16-2010 10:55 PM

I am pretty sure i am going to buy a 86 chevy truck here in san antonio. People here just seriously don't give a crap. They will see you, and pull out or merge anyways. I have had to slam my brakes, dodge, and even pull up the wheel chair ramp on a sidewalk to dodge a dumbass. Ive pretty much assumed people can't see my tiny ass car. I can't wait to get something big and crappy and just let people wreck they're nice new cars into it.
