So. Hot.

You can keep the chassis, give me the engines.
On second thought, that second intake setup would be no good around my house with all of these goddamn cedar tree needles and gravel. Would be like a vacuum cleaner under the hood. I figure I could rig up some kind of plenum though. |
Lust? Yes. Desire? No. Top Gear made me think twice about buying one, almost bought a 164 turbo a looong time ago. Gorgeous cars though.

I think these Alphas are a little different from the off-the-shelf versions.

Well I would imagine so, but they are still ugly. I guess give me the chassis, I will just sell them to someone who likes ugly cars...

That Ford=win.
Dual crank on the second A-R, the red one? I don't know how that would work, but that's how it looks.... |

Sliding plate beneath the trumpets? And, holy shit, I just noticed the injectors.

the exhaust needs to see some heat because the pipes look like shit without patina.

The late 60's early 70's Alfa's have turned me on since I was a little kid and they were new. The early GTV's are sex in my book. Anyone who hasn't driven an earlier Alfa needs to. You will never drive an engine happier to be at redline than a little Alfa four banger. Those engines are butter.
|
I'll take the Alfas, the Porsches and that Volvo.

This Manta is quite cool, super + turbo
The injector style was commonly used on ferraris old f1-cars. I have a shitload of pictures of that kind of setup from the ferrari museum in maranello. Edit: can't find them on this computer though... sorry. Hilmersson Racing http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil.../Galleri18.jpg |
Holy shit, I haven't seen that Manta in years. That used to be one of my favorites. LOVE that car.
Listen to that s/c whine... and this video sucks compared to the one I remember without music. Why the fuck do people who make videos think people want to hear their shitty taste in music? Let me hear the car. |

http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...7/IMG_9993.jpg Also notice the lack of v-bands? Must be adamantium nuts and bolts? |

Good thing there's a screen over the turbo inlet, wouldn't want to suck in a bird or a small child.

That first Alfa with the removable panels and the mid-engine V10 is a freaking SLEEPER. Looks like a normal sedan with some ricer mods until... see ya loser.
That yellow Renault "Sport", or whatever it is, is freaking pearl necklace TITS. Awesome. I had not seen that one yet. |
Holy injector placement batman:eek5:
First time I ever saw something like that. And there are no problems with that sort of placement? |

I said note the lack of v-bands, not the absence of them. I saw the one on each wastegate (as well as the others) but it's interesting the manifold to turbine connection has simple nuts and bolts.

Uh, Hustler, it's ALFA Romeo, not Alpha. Unless you're getting it Greek style, which you probably are. :fawk:

The turbo is well supported on a single turbo 962 and doesn't put a big load on the bolts (and apparently doesn't heat them up enough to cause the problems evidenced here regularly). The 962 we have at the shop has the same crappy mismatched nuts it showed up with and they don't come loose. I did my best to convince the PTB we ought to change them out regardless, but to no avail.

alfa engines are sick! widebody porsche's are alway's the shit, especially older 911's.
i think it's established that the reason the bolts fail is they're exposed to the direct exhaust gas/heat inside the manifold. the bolts that aren't exposed don't fail. you know they're exposed if when the bolt is out - exhaust gas shoots out the hole. i only have one exposed, so only one has ever broken. (top left - many times). confirmed by a few others including snowboarder. |
