aluminum weld-on #10 JIC fittings, where are they
I want to get some proper #10 fittings welded onto my oil cooler but can't seem to find anything. Thoughts?

Http://VibrantPerformance.com offers them. Checkout to see if you have a dealer local.
ummm...are JIC and "AN" fittings the same flare and thread? I've always thought they were different.
different seat angle iirc.
Nevermind... Just saw the above post.
The seat angle on both is 37°. The specs on the shape of the thread are slightly different, however AFAIK, the thread size and pitch are the same, and the two are interchangeable.
The JIC fittings are rated to much higher operating pressures because of tighter tolerances, but can be used in conjuction with AN fittings for our applications
JIC and AN are 37*. SAE is 45*. |
Well if AN fittings will work... Pegasus Racing offers them in steel and aluminum. Just search "weld an".
An interesting read for ya... http://www.mechanicsupport.com/articleStronger.html From what I can gather, as long as you are working with pressures below 1500 psi, you are good to go with an AN. Good luck!
don't do that. You're gonna be super pissed when you strip one. Same reason I have a 1/2" NPT bung in my oil pan with an adapter to -10AN.
Sav does bring about a good point...
