Am I a gay fish for wanting this color on my miata?

C3LY's '03 Silver/Green Chromaflair GLX 1.8t - NewBeetle.org Forums

I saw that color turbo beetle last Sunday and it was stunning.
It was a bright silver, with color shifting highlights towards blue-green.

jayc72 01-12-2010 11:58 AM

No that isn't what makes you gay. What makes you gay is all the penis sucking. I make no judgments.

Can't say I like the paint.

m2cupcar 01-12-2010 12:24 PM

That depends. Is the desire for the paint actually hiding the true desire for the car?

cueball1 01-12-2010 12:30 PM

I loved some of the color shifting paint 10-15 years ago, not so much now unless it's really subtle. There's a guy around here with a factory 5 cobra that's color shifting from tangerine to an orangy gold that pretty subtle. Doesn't really look like a color shift as much as it's just really lively.

This.

Nagase 01-12-2010 12:39 PM

Love it! Maybe a little gay, but there's nothing wrong with that. It'd be like driving around a pearl...

thymer 01-12-2010 12:41 PM

gay

Bond 01-12-2010 12:41 PM

Yes you're gay. We all are, check your url box.

Turbo bugs can be cool. I saw one with huge FMIC and BEGI sticker on the back, it was low and looked mean.

nickt93 01-12-2010 01:10 PM

I don't think it's gay, but I have a reputation for liking gay colors.

+1 on liking subtle color shifting.

Somehow I also really like pearl colors; I saw a pearl white 911 and it was beautiful.

Full_Tilt_Boogie 01-12-2010 01:36 PM

Im not a fan of any color shifting, pearl, etc.
It just looks like show car bullshit to me, and I really hate show cars. A show car is just a car that never got to be used as a car, and thats fucked up.

browning 01-12-2010 03:03 PM

check the price on that color that is going to be expensive.

JasonC SBB 01-12-2010 03:30 PM

These guys claim the most affordable color shifting paint
Google Image Result for http://www.alsacorp.com/products/metalmorphis/showcase/DSC05027-thumb.jpg

The one VW used is this
JDSU ChromaFlair Pigments

Turbo_4 01-12-2010 03:31 PM

I like the little gay pride dancing smilies at the bottom of that vw page, totally adds to the thread.

NA6C-Guy 01-12-2010 03:32 PM

theres no auto body paint there to buy just smaller stuff speaker enclosures ect... that color looks like a silver base with the chalmelon color shot over the base. get a price check on that color it will prob shock the shit out of you.

secretsquirrel 01-12-2010 03:56 PM

That color will only work if you get matching "hot pants" to go with it...

jdmaddox88 01-12-2010 04:47 PM

Wow, they must be the nicest forum posters I've ever seen.

NA6C-Guy 01-12-2010 04:59 PM

I'm not a gay fish!

Paint is totally gay and the fact that you are in a beetle forum is even gayer.

hustler 01-12-2010 05:18 PM

LOL. I saw a turbo beetle then searched images.google.com for silver color shifting paint turbo beetle and found that forum thread.

Joe Perez 01-12-2010 07:49 PM

Without passing judgement one way or another, when I see that sort of colour-shifting paint, the first thing that comes to my mind is a slammed Mustang with gold spoked wheels, ten years ago.

That's amazing. Same exact thing that comes to my mind. Does the one in your mind have 3 spoked "cutter" caps. Not sure what the technical name is. Mine also has 2 tone mirror tint, fading from black to mirror at the bottom.

Quite possibly.

I think that any car that looks like a tampon or womans shaver is gay. If you like the color though, why the fuck should you care what anyone else thinks?

magnamx-5 01-14-2010 07:34 AM

looks taupe to me nah man driving a pink car at one time and a grey car at others isnt gay.

JasonC SBB 01-14-2010 11:05 AM

So NOBODY else thinks that subtle color shifting paint, silver -> blue-green highlights would look good on an NB, regardless of gayness?

Nagase 01-14-2010 01:09 PM

I think it'd be wonderful, personally.

JasonC SBB 01-14-2010 01:38 PM

Not FABULOUTH?

r808 01-14-2010 07:27 PM

Referencing a color shade to apply to a Miata based on a photograph of a Beetle. Folks, we have a meat case! Someone please inform his wife.

Personally, I think its the color choices. Its not necessarily the color changing paint itself, more so the combo of the colors together.

I think because the silver is the main color its hard to add any other light colors to the mix without it looking gay. If the green was darker, or the silver was black, then maybe it would be different.

I just think its a little gay of a color, regardless what car its on. Although having it on a miata may be gay, having it on a beetle is ultra mega gay. Any car that comes with a built in flower stem holder is STRICLY for women.

No, I *saw* the Turbo Beetle then looked for a pic online.

Hmm, what's with the morose colors?

Am I the only one that thinks miatas are happy cars and should have happy colors?

And no, I don't mean "happy" as in "gay". LOL how many people here don't know that "gay" used to mean "happy" before it meant "homosexual"?

And "fag" now means Harley rider...etymology evolves.

I think it *might* be cool, and certainly not any gayer than the Splash Green NBs

http://www.miata.net/gallery/images/03splash.jpg

or the Sunburst Yellows.

Your car...might as well make it the way you like it.

Ahhh Splash Green Mica. The only Miata color I truely like. Other than 10AE blue.

gospeed81 01-14-2010 11:51 PM

Of course I didn't mean to offend any of the bi-curious splash green owners on the board.

Anyone who thinks all color shifting paint is gay needs to look over TVR's factory colors. I think it's the classic blue/purple/green colorshift that the ricers do that looks like poo.... these however...
