You certainly spoiled the memories of my childhood, with a broken link.
Oh wait, I'm still a child. |
No work? I fix. Now image not hit block.

haaa, loved it. Went to dead wood last fall, it was great. The roads going in are a blast. I have to go back and re-read my poo books. What site did you find this?

I LOVED that show. The show was hardcore, raw, nasty and acting was superb. I can't think of any role and scene that wasn't superb. Ian McShane still scares me.

I just finished re-watching series one and two yesterday. Hitting series three tonight. Well worth it, even without Poo

We went to Deadwood last August, cool place. If anyone goes make sure to see the burlesque show 'Flaunt' at the Lucky Nugget.

Some folks have a twisted sense of nostalgia.

Thanks Joe. I'd never watched Deadwood, I think I've got all but one episode in season one left to watch. Seasons 2/3 are waiting on the NAS to be watched.
Did they really use cocksucker and ---- back in the day as the depict on the show? |

Did they really use cocksucker and ---- back in the day as the depict on the show? Seriously though, this is something that I was curious about, too. From what I've read, the creators' intent was to depict the barbaric atmosphere of frontier life, and they had originally experimented with the use of period-accurate profanity, however with the characters saying things like "gol-darn" it came off as sounding comical to modern audiences. Think about reading Shakespeare, for instance. For most speakers of contemporary English, it just doesn't flow smoothly. Thus, the decision was made to substitute modern day profanity in a more-or-less contextually equivalent manner, to more accurately convey the intent of the characters. It turns out from a quick google search on deadwood profanity that there's quite a bit written on the topic. Much of it, as you'd imagine, points out that the show takes a lot of liberties with historical accuracy in the name of good drama, and the severity of the language is just one of them. I don't mind. It's still a damn good show. Amusing fact: Over the course of the series, the word "fuck" is spoken 2,980 times, an average of 1.56 FPM (fucks per minute) of screentime. That's gotta be a record. |
We didn't use the word very much, and with the quality of the whores compared to the show, we didn't do it very much either. Lot of :jerkit:
