I lost 28-091 and I can't get the part in time to hit the track tomorrow. Does anyone know what thread-pitch and size nut I can replace it with? Help Help Help!

it requires a 17mm wrench, iirc, if that helps.

Take out bolt and go to hardware store?

The bolt doesn't come out unless I drop the swaybar mounts and possibly the big-ass radiator.

Check with a shop that does alignments. They have a tendency to talk people into new eccentric bolts when they do alignments and may have a bunch of used ones laying around. Just a thought for something local to you that you could get today and free.

I'm talking about the gigantic bolt on the UCA bolt through the subframe. Sorry for the confusion.

FRT_Fun 06-28-2013 11:19 AM

nm...

Can you remove the one from the other side and bring it to the hardware store? Don't remember how much of a PITA it is.

LOL, they are both marked 28-091.

Stein 06-28-2013 11:27 AM

I searched the part number, FB01-28-091A and got lots of hits but no pitch information. Take off the other one and go to the store but I think it will be unlikely you will find one.

If you have a u-pull-it lot it is common on lots of Mazdas.

I never claimed to be remotely intelligent on this forum, lol.

If it's the same as the alignment bolts, I'm 97% sure it's a M12*1.50 nut. (Newer style bolts are M12*1.25 iirc).

They aren't--I missed that the first time also. Pivot bolt nut is FB01-28-091A and eccentric nut is 8037-28-091.

Oscar 06-28-2013 11:56 AM

I see. Either way, it's an M12*xxx bolt. Grab one of each and see what fits.

Braineack 06-28-2013 11:59 AM

I don't understand why Hustler can't just pick up the entire car, strap it on his back, and ride his bike to the store and figure it out on the spot.

This is why he deadlifts for right?

Awesome, thanks.

I need a more expensive bike to do this, like a Parlee Z2.

crutch; man up.

hustler 06-28-2013 12:10 PM

At this point I'd probably trade the green car for that bike. Well, not yet...but I'm getting there. I assure you all that I will never, ever unload the green car. It's my "forever car".

I was thinking it was a 19mm......I'll know tomorrow when I pull the V8R upper arms to sell.

I say that because that nut is the only thing that didn't show up when I ordered all new bolts/nuts for the suspension to replace the rusted up stuff.

As for pitch, guessing you don't have a tap/die set?

Braineack 06-28-2013 02:15 PM

you could be correct, maybe I'm thinking of the lower nut, but then again, that could be 19mm too. I never said I was any help.

z31maniac 06-28-2013 02:30 PM

I could be wrong too, it's been ~1 year since I took it apart. I'm sure he will have it figured out before I get the suspension/brakes off the car tomorrow night.

If not, I'll report back.
