Anyone an android expert? Android head unit question

So, the joying head unit I have in my car is acceptable for most of my uses. It certainly isn't as nice (and fast) as my Samsung tablet, it's almost impossible to see in the full sun (what screen isn't?), but it has the hardware to power my speakers and overall I am pretty happy with it.

EXCEPT that joying seems to think that bluetooth is only really necessary for taking bluetooth phone calls and sharing contacts. What I really want to do is run shadowdash and MSdroid on it (connecting via bluetooth) so I can log directly onto the head unit and have it upload my logs to the cloud when I get home.

Is this a feature I can re-enable by rooting my android device? Where do I start in looking into this? I have very very little experience in this area. Thanks.

I have the same issue, China android head unit will not connect to MS3 bluetooth dongle. only to my phone.

What i do is connect via USB and run MSDROID, that works just fine. and i use bluetooth for my laptop

Maybe headunit doesn't use correct bluetooth protocol in order to work the sensor. I think it needs to support BLE in order for it to work.

That makes sense. (BTE)

I am trying to avoid using USB just because I already have a bluetooth serial port tucked in there and I would rather not have to swap the damn cable every time. Worse comes to worse I may just modify the MSpnpPro case to have a built in bluetooth chip with a switch to turn it off or on. I don't know...

i have both on my ms3, a serial to bluetooth, and a usb port.
so usb goes to android headunit
serial bluetooth used for laptop tuning.

no need to unplug or replug any cables.

looks like it's possible. Might try hitting him up.

And it's not a BLE thing - bluetooth has different profiles, for media, phone, HID (keyboard/mouse), and serial communication (rfcomm). BLE is a new radio type for low power. It's been a loooong time since I played with bluetooth, but my guess is for whatever reason the joying disabled the rfcomm - why? less features, less things to test and support, typically.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ncher-t3504526 <- maybe what you need?
