anyone do trackdays on 4 wheels and on 2?
 

i did my first track day with absolute cycle on the 21st at pocono east. Got to do 5 sessions, first session in group 1 because it was my first time on the track, man those fuckers suck at riding. Came back in at asked to be put into the 2nd group. went back out in group 2 and it was much more fun, but people were passing me on the straight because i was worried about entering the turn at 100mph. 3rd time out got more comfortable and got both knees down, nobody passed me. 4th time out went a little harder, passed a few people. 5th time out, i knew it was my last so i pushed it and passed a lot of people, pushed harder and i started dragging the peg feelers on my bike. i didn't get to go back out after removing them.

anyway i'm totally hooked, i'm going to build a dedicated track bike probably over the winter and attend as many days i can next season. Now i've never done a track day in the miata, mainly because i've been waiting to install my suspension because any lower and i won't be able to get in and out of the driveway where i live now. So if anyone has done a track day in the miata and on a motorcycle i'd like to hear the differences and which one you prefer. right now i'm thinking i may never bother with miata, will it be boring?

I do both also! The bike is much more fun than my Subaru or Miata! Ended up dragging the edge of my pegs and my boot the last time out. My friends and I rent the track each year and we pay $200 for the entire day! Ended up doing about 190kms at the last track day.

Has trackdays for the bike ruined yall from corner carving on the street now?

Street is now boring and a lot more dangerous. I live about 45 minutes from beautiful roads in Southern Ontario, but they certainly are not clean roads. You can find Sand and Rocks on them. The track is perfect and therefore you really push your bike.

I used to run my bike out at Jennings here in FL. But I did more drag racing at bradenton in my miata than anything. (Just for test and tune though)

I've been running Talladega Grand Prix this year. My first time out I was running consistant 1.08's.

That is at MSR-C during CMRA race practice. I think that picture was taken in the "Tombstone" corner. I have been hearing good things about Harris Hill from some others, including my endurance teammate (that is his bike in the picture).

You know, a lot of racers talk about how they did not ride on the street much after doing trackdays and races. I am one of them. Riding on the street is OK, but the track is just soooo much better. You can push much, much harder and really ride these bikes they way they are intended. For example I have never had my knee down on the street, not even close. At the track I'll drag it all day when I am riding well.

Track days are a great idea. I highly recommend them, especially if you are getting bored with the street and pushing harder than you should be on the street. If they have a beginners riding school I recommend that too. You will learn a lot if you have not taken a racing class yet. Also I would recommend considering a lstd track day for your first one. They run a really tight ship, limit the number of bikes on the track, are safety oriented, and have good instructors. Really good guys.

One thing about two wheels versus four... the on-track pictures are much cooler looking :D
