Default Got hit....again.

Second time in a month my car has gotten hit while parked. First time they left a note and the damage was minimal. This time there's no note and of course it's going to cost a lot more to fix. Looks like a pickup truck backed over my nose hood and fenders. I actually didn't notice it for two days because of how salty my car is. I thought it was just streaks of salt but now I notice it's scratches all over the damn place. They're renovating my building so it could definitely be one of the ******* mexican or eastern european scumbags working on it but i have no way to prove that. The rear bumper was literally repainted three weeks ago. I'm just so ******* pissed right now. NO ******* NOTE!!!

That's gay dude. Gayer than rear-ending a Miata. Any way to get security vid or anything? Or is this on a residential area?

Why not go see if you can find any residual marks on one of their cars?

I've got to wash the salt off to get a better idea of the damage and see how much can be repaired and how much needs replacing. But it seems the whole front half of the hood is scratched. Where the hood meets the headlights its bent upwards. The nose is scratched and dented. And one of the fenders is scratched on the top. So I'd think the hood is done (it's hard to repair aluminum right?) nose probably too, the fender is repairable I think. No security cameras anywhere near by unfortunately. The way it's scratched looks like the underside of a truck did it. I have a black car. I have a feeling there is zero damage on the other party's vehicle.

It's not that it isn't fixable/replacable, it is, but leave a ******* note! It's also just horrible timing for me. I'm trying to move out of my apartment in the next two weeks, plus my final semester of grad school starts next week and an internship and a full-time job. I don't have time or money for this **** right now.

Hopefully my body guy can give me some kind of a deal as I've had two cars go in for paint work with him in the last month.

I know nothing of body work so really i have no clue if any of this would need replacing or just repairing. Some pics:

I'm no expert but at least to me it doesn't look awful...

Personally in your sit (school, money, etc) I'd prob just leave it like that till timing was better...

A body guy could work on that, but the overall cost will leave you looking at fiberglass and carbon hoods. The barn doors can be redone though. Hopefully the linkage didn't get messed up.

probably cheaper to just replace the whole front end. and new oem stuff can be cheaper than used parts. if you decide to go that route pm me.

Well I just saw a body shop to see what they thought could be repaired and what had to be replaced. The hood is done but probably the rest could just be repaired. I think you're right that I may have to leave it the way it is for now. I'll pull everything off to have them paint it so I don't have to pay for labor (they quoted me $3000 to repair it all!!!) but at the moment it's too cold and I'm too busy to be without the car and do work on it. Just gonna have to drive around with an *** ugly car for a couple months and collect parts.

I actually laughed when he said that. I'd expect that much for the whole car, not the front end. I'm going to keep an eye out for good condition used pieces and rebuild it bit buy bit, or maybe call planetmiata, or pick up a used autokonexchtionnnn hood used if one comes around.

the other day i was eating dinner over a friends house with my girlfriend and some 20 something girl knocked on the door. she said she just backed in to the little black car outside and was looking for the owner. i was impressed with her honesty and there was pretty much no damage, so i just told her not to worry about it. the fact that i don't care about the exterior of my car probably helps too.

i've been wondering for a while how long it would take for someone to back into my car. my next miata will be a more visible color. this is my third black car, so i'm due for a change anyway.

planetmiata are nice people to deal with, that'd be the way i'd go too. either way it sucks that happened, good luck sourcing all your parts.

It'll be a lot cheaper to buy those panels used off another black car. I saw a guy on CL the other day with all those parts. I've spent the last 1/2 hour scouring for that ad again and haven't found it. If I come across it again I'll let you know.

Sucks the big donkey finding your car like that.

From the pictures it looks like you need a new hood, passenger headlight cover, and possibly a new bumper. There is no way that should cost 3grand. I ran into a trailer hitch and put a hole through my front bumper, fucked my hood, busted my radaitor, bent my radiator support, and messed up my driver side light. Total cost to fix was about $3600. So for replacing your 3 parts and paint should not be to bad. The msot expensvie part will be the hood. Prices on those range all over the place and shipping them is a pain in the *** because the get damaged so easily.

I'm looking into a 24/7 surveillance system for my car (well probably won't record when it's parked in my garage). Even if I spend $1000 on it (building it myself) I think it would be worth it to have on video a hit and run like you posted. Will probably go the carpc route since I can also tune my car with megatune running on the pc. That sucks man - PEOPLE SUCK!
