What I've been doing for 2 weeks and I NEED A CAR!
First, I'm officially a Californian again!!! Got into San Diego last night. I've got cash to spend on a '99 right now... just looking for the right one. If you know of a deal on one within a decent drive, post it up!
So, last Monday I got started, made Atlanta and stayed at Dobbins AFB. Second day, made stops in Meridian, MS and Natchitoches, LA before stopping in Tyler, TX. Do yourself a favor... if you're eastbound on I20 and need to stop in the Tyler "area", theres a Motel park with a LaQuinta/HolidayInnExpress/Motel8 about 20 miles before Tyler. Don't drive all the way to Tyler... just take my word on it. You can wave to that ****-hole the following morning as you fly past with your foot to the floorboard. Stay the **** away from that place. The day, got to Midland,TX midday and spent 4 days shooting everything that moved. Got my limit on quail and deer (nothing worth mentioning) and 2 turkey.
First day was a typical west-Texas circle hunt. Jeeps haul *** through the brush until a covey takes off, then the Jeeps surround the covey and everybody gets out and walks towards eachother to close the circle. Dogs flush the birds up... just don't shoot the guy opposite you in the circle. Shot a decent over-under... about 30% accuracy on the day. Not bad for a year off since my last time with a shotgun.
Next 3 days, shot 3 does and 2 spikes (just doing management on my buddies ranch). I got 3 of them at around 200yards with a .25-06, one spike with an iron-site lever-action .30-30 at around 50yards. And the last doe was a head-shot with a .308 at around 80yards (why? because she wouldn't turn and we were running out of light). It was messy. And a couple of turkeys wandered through the feeder and scared away the deer the second afternoon, so they died because I had the tags. We spent the first morning siting in... that was fun!
I had my hands on these over the few days:
Sako .25-06
Ruger Mini-14
M14 (don't know manufacturer)
Savage .308
Winchester .30-30
Winchester .243
Remington .25-250
Numerous shotguns
Ruger .25mag
And yes, I need to lose 40lbs so I can fit in my new '99 if somebody will find me one.

If it wasn't too late you should of just drove through to Dallas. Looks like you had fun in Texas. I haven't went hunting yet this year. I guess I'll miss deer season. My uncle's farm is being torn up from wild hogs. I guess I'll shoot some of those. I got a Vietnamese friend that swares him and his family will cook the best meal I'll ever eat, if I bring a small wild hog for them.
I am looking forward to that. I like asian food anyways.
Has anyone else seen the Indonesian special, on the travel channel. They roasted that hog with butter, secret herbs, and coconut milk for hours. They said it turned into a carmel like bast, But yet the outer layer was like a crust! You could tell that the host was not faking when he bit into it.
Man, I want to go there just to try the food.
I would love for these guys (friends)to pull something from the hat like that!

Being picky... not going to buy site-unseen... which means it's gotta be Ventura, Vegas, Phoenix, or closer. I looked at the black one, but I won't buy anything that had a Voodoo hooked up to it (because I'll never do anything involving a hacked wire harness) and there's nothing about the turbo kit I'd be keeping. I'd rather start with an unmolested engine than bother with parting pieces not being kept... although I already asked him about his exhaust now that he's parting it.
But those two cars are pretty close to the right idea.
