Well it was the last autocross of the season. I always knew my suspension and tires were lacking, but I never had photographic proof. Until now. I didn't know it was THIS bad, I almost lifted that front tire.



I have Koni yellows, and Toyo T1R 195/55/14's on stock wheels. I scrubbed so hard in the last corner once I left off the gas I did a full 90 degree to the side.

Do I need springs and a front sway bar to cure that? New wheels and tires will be going on as well, just not sure what I want yet.

just be careful, larger sway bars induce more over steer, look at the FCM suspension spread sheet, and play with the numbers till you find something you like

I solved the problem by running 10 seconds longer than FTD.:gay:

No, seriously, ground controls made a big difference, and I am looking at a stiffer front sway in the near future.

Id get a racing beat hollow front then see how much that helps. After that Id get fatcat perches and whatever rate spring you prefer. Then to top that off fc 46mm bumpstops and isc tophats.

+1 on the hollow bar from RB...also, koni alone aint gonna help, you need to lover that biyatch, GC coilovers work great for me, and you need stiff springs in the front, I'd say 500-550 if you are running Koni Yellows on full stiff up front... and 300-350 on full soft in back, you'll love that set-up....if you are concerned about losing ride comfort, then go to "the other forum"

Come on now...put suspension/tires that will really get the power to the ground....

Think GC 750/450 with Koni Race Spec or 28 series and 275/35-15 Hoosiers on 15x10s.

You're already running in a modified class, why purchase off the shelf crap?

I've got the suspension down pat....now I need to add the power.

ncie fourwhls, i need to get my front shocks revalved
i am currently using the yellow with 650/450, but its a bit too much spring for the yellows, so i want to get them re-valved to race spec and step it up to 700 or 750 and leave the rear at the current valving and 450 springs
but man, i just love your car...i want your wheel/tire package, but its gotta wait for after the turbo build...so maybe next season

I set my konis to full still and loved it, to hell with ride comfort! So if I got a hollow RB front bar, GC's with 500 and 300, Fat cat mounts and some sort of 15xbig wheels and tires I should be alright. Sounds like what I had expected.

The problem is I had no clear plan for the car until now. This was only my 4th autocross, and I have decided it's what I want to do for now. The fastest time of the day was 35.2. My best was a 40.5, and I'm plenty happy with that time. I'm not looking to win or set records, I just love flogging my car around the course.

Fourwhls, I'm on a college budget and this is my DD in the summer. As much as I would love to have a setup like that I don't think I could. I'm just looking for an inexpensive but well rounded setup. Once I have a real job, a house and all that....I will build a professional setup (I hope).

get some sportmax 002's for the wheels, or some rota's, 16x8 is nice and wide but also streetable, the 15x8's are kickass (ebay has them, i'm a cheap college kid too )

since you already have the yellows, that sounds like a good stiffnes for the springs, i went 650 front, but its up to you, i want even stiffer
make sure you dont skimp on the tires, grip means more than anything else, and the sway bar for sure, you can get them for cheap from brian at good-win racing, well worth it IMO, also look into some lightweight bracing, later down the road, now you need some coilovers
