Anyone have a weapons obsession?
In the last year I haven't touched my miata once. Granted I've messed with an engine a few times but have really lost interest in the vehicle and have sold my Mazdaspeed6. Guess I figured since I'm not spending money on the miata / ms6 anymore another expensive hobby was needed?
Some recent acquisitions.. Top is a Plum Crazy Firearms C15 composite lower receiver DPMS Panther 20 Bull upper receiver Simmons 6.5-30x50mm w/Leupold rings Magpul B.A.D. lever Hogue Grip Bottom is a Bushmaster AR15 lower Colt M16A1 (issued) upper receiver NCStar Muzzle brake (?? I Don't remember) Shot a Duracell 'AA' Battery off a post at 100 yards with the DPMS last weekend. Only 40 rounds through it so far, but I expect extreme distance nail driving with it in the future. Currently negotiating access to a private range with up to 1000 yards marked off, can't wait to see how it'll perform to 500+ http://jugrnot.com/IMG_7640.jpg http://jugrnot.com/IMG_7645.jpg http://jugrnot.com/IMG_7642.jpg Most recently is a New England Firearms Sportster .17HMR Cheap Barska 10-40x50 scope This rifle produces dime size groups at 100 yards with my finger, my shooting partner managed 2 rounds through a single hole at 100 with it. Very expensive to shoot considering its a rim fire . . . http://jugrnot.com/IMG_7648.jpg Received a MidwayUSA June sale mailer last week and found a DPMS 16" slickside flattop on sale for $359... That might show up in a week or two, and might have to order another one of those composite lowers. Wouldn't mind building a 3.5# AR for you know, around the hosue.. Anyone else? |
Nice rifles. The composite lower is crazy. Looks like some nice optics too.
I get to hand over my M4/M203 in under 50 days. Can't wait! |
While I have enjoyed my renewed hobby... I'm not even remotely as spendy as you :p
You should have gotten yourself a Marlin 795, some sights and it drives tacks also... for pennies. |
I've got one of those Plum Crazy lowers too, but I haven't built it up yet. Just figured I needed a lower.

I have always seen the "What guns do you have" threads and felt they were nothing more than a bragging competition. This thread however started out with a DPMS weapon which I can relate to. Here is my contirbution. I bought this DPMS about 10 years ago. I got it for $650 off the showroom wall brand new. I put a Simmons 3-10x44 scope on it, and I put a different grip on it. I can hit a laid down soda can at 100 yards 7 out of 10 rounds. I always wanted to put a 2 stage trigger on it, but never did. I do not like the trigger pull, but I have learned to compensate for it.
Attachment 21004 Attachment 21005 If you think 7 out of 10 rounds on a laid down soda can with an AR is good, my Ruger M77 308T will do the same on a dime. I use my own handloads with 110 grain FMJ's. I also have a Ruger .223 almost like my .308 and I use 55 grain nosler ballistic handloads. |

I try avoid gun collection threads because fagggots always like to brag about their modded SKS, Black Gunz, hacked-up 10/22, sawed-off 870, etc. Like clockwork, some asshole will chime in with his M&P and talk about how he'll put five rounds through the same hole at 600 yards while diving and how he just got finished tiger-striping his RIS-rail laden 10/22, all while spraying his sweet collection down with good ol' WD40 before he slides it under his bed. I HATE GUNS |
I agree. Gun threads always start of friendly then go gay when everyone has to have the bigger dick. I love my glock 23. Few mods. But love shooting it. Who cares if 1911s are "better". I like it, works every time I pull thetrigger and at less than 50yrds it'll hit a person. That's what matter. Any better with a hand gun is a bonus

fuck a 1911

Don't hate guns. Hate gun lunatics! People who speak about them in terms of "necessity" or "being prepared" are the ones who are giving the guns a bad name. When it comes down to it, they are just speaking out of lack of intelligence and paranoia.
Personally, i do own a couple guns. They are kind of like modified cars. They are fun, but i don't need them. |

Your attempt to paint the gun enthusiast as a dumb, god-fearing redneck amuses me. |
Thanks for the feedback and positive comments everyone. I was hesitant to post the thread in fear of it turning into a dickbeater contest but took the chance in hopes it didn't.

Or because they've been in a situation where they did need one, and wouldn't have lived had they not had one at that moment.

5 years ago I came to this site looking up some info on Megasquirt. A year and a half later my car was turboed. After that I read a few posts about weapons. Now I'm putting a decent collection together. These are two really crappy hobbies to have in my state.
So, Ya, thanks a lot. </sarcasm> Most of my collection is wood and steel but my wife has a California compliant Bushmaster Carbon 15. It hasn't had very many rounds through it (maybe 150) but it's been perfectly reliable. |

Seriously a great price and high quality. Their unconditional warranty is pretty boss too. Only downfall is the trigger which I'm not a big fan of. That can be fixed but I don't really plan on it. Probably wouldn't recommend the lower in a combat situation but casual or maybe light tactical I think it'd be fantastic. Still say you can't beat the cost!
I've wondered about the durability/reliability of the PlumCrazy lowers too, but I read a report from one guy that used it as a test bed for a full-auto sear and had something like 30k full-auto rounds through it with no failures (I'm guessing springs were replaced occasionally). The trigger group can be replaced en toto, but since mine will be a lightweight plinker build, I'll leave it as is. |
The Plum Crazy lowers aren't bad for the money... One of my buddy's is a Class III dealer and runs his SBR M16 build off of one while suppressed. No failures to date. The only failures we have seen out of them are when morons abuse them or try to install things incorrectly on them. You have to think, that everything in the the lower is low pressure whereas all of the abuse is technically in the upper.

I have a springfield xd45 and a Ruger p95.. I don't carry them and don't really intend to. I take them to the range and just have fun. My next gun will hopefully be a ar15 weather I can build my own or have to buy a built one. Down the line id love to own a mossburg 500 and a 50ae D.Eagle but once again thoes would be just fun guns for the range

I'm thinking of doing a 14.5" or maybe 16" pencil barrel with just iron sights...should be a fun rifle to shoot.

If I did a 14.5" it'd be with a pinned flash hider to bring it back to the legal minimum. If I get a stamp it's going to be for a suppressor, not an SBR.

I don't have anything super cool, but I do like guns. I mainly go for cheap guns that are good shooters and spend the extra cash on ammo and range time. I've got about 1500 rounds through my SW9VE and I can shoot 6" groups standing with the factory sights at 30 yards. The Rem 870 Express Super Mag is a great shotgun and I have around 600 rounds through it. I just traded my Marlin 795 for a Marlin 60SS. The 795 liked to jam up after you fired 40-50 rounds through it. Those .22lr are dirty rounds. I just picked up the hi-point 995ts in 9mm last week and I'm waiting on my extra mags to come in so I can go to the range. The Mosin Nagants are rad guns for the price, got some ammo coming in and a good cleaning of all of the cosmoline before I can go shoot them. They were cheap and will make great loaners to buddies when we go to the range. I'm thinking about glassing one of them for more accuracy...
http://inlinethumb02.webshots.com/15...600x600Q85.jpg Oh, and they one I've shot the most lately, the daisy 1 pump...lol Those black birds in my garden talk to it daily. So top to bottom Mosin Nagant 91/30's Marlin 60SS Hi-point 995ts Remington 870 Express Super Magnum S&W SW9VE Daisy |
