I need a DD and i was thinking of a mazda 2. Mileage seems decent, and if i could get into one for under 15 i will do it i think. 2100 pound curb weight, so why not. With some sways and an intake and decent tires, it could be fun, right? Am i a retard?
I'm assuming you're talking about this:

(I actually didn't even know these damn things even existed lol)
I think its a better looking version of a yaris. Much better looking. But 15? ****. I'd pay no more than about 10 for a car like that. I mean its as econo as an econobox can get

I've given the 2 some consideration, yeah. I like small cars...go figure.
Having seen one at a local auto show a few months back, it just really seems to lack much in character. Plus the version we'll be getting has that typical smiley front end.
Last I heard, NA will only be getting the five door initially. Bleh... Now, show me a 3-door Mazdaspeed version, and we can talk. Couple of prototypes that were around a few years ago looked pretty impressive.
While it's almost exactly the same car, I much prefer the Fiesta. Can't quite pin down why, though. Maybe it seems a bit less pedestrian in the most base form.

i work at a ford dealership in sales and if you havent experience a fiesta in person yet i recomend you do if your looking into the econobox cars.
at first i didnt really like them from the pics i saw and some videos but once you actually see the car in person it actually looks amazing.
we r waiting for ours to come in but once it does ill be the first to take it out on the streets.

My mom bought one last year. 3-door, GT-M bumper and spoiler, black, 16" wheels, 1.5 motor, AC, PS, heated seats, CC, everything basically. I've been DD-ing it for the past few months since she got a miata too and mine's still on jackstands. Took it to le mans without issues. Milage is pretty ok. 6-6.5 l/100km usually. It could use some more power but it's a pretty good daily driver unless you need to haul big stuff all the time.
The Mazda 2 is the new Fiesta, but it is being released before the Ford. I think it's a pretty ***** car. I was on their mailing list for updates, and was reading through the press release. They said they had two main criteria with the car to give it the "zoom-zoom" feeling. The first of these attributes was that was the gas pedal was pressed, the car would react and accelerate, and when released, it would slow down. I stopped at that point.
