Default Attn all comp/electronics guys!

Need some help fellas

Apparently the HD on my laptop is toast. Sam is helping me fix, but Im really tight on money and trying to avoid having to buy a new one at $80-$100++

He's advised me that a HD out of a 5th gen Ipod will work, as well as obviously the actual HD for my computer.

So anybody got a busted 60+GB Ipod willing to giveaway/sell cheap??

Also if anyone has a way to get the actual HD for cheap, the model # is
MK1011GAH. Others may work, hopefully Sam will chime in to shoot down/green light suggestions if any

You could try flea bay for a used HD.
What kind of laptop is it?

for a new oneyou could check out pricewatch... just google it.

If I was home I have literally like 20 computers and laptops laying around, could have pulled one and sold it for cost of shipping :/ Sorry.

What model/brand laptop?

Laptop hard drives are like 20 dollars used on ebay... probably more then you will pay for a broken ipod.

A VGN-TX series? If so, I feel your pain- our machines do have really bizarre hard drives in 'em. (But rock on, brother.)

There are companies out there (UK-based, it seems, mostly) that sell an adapter to allow a CF card to be plugged into iPods of said era and used as an SSD, and that adapter should work with our machines as well. Just a thought, given how cheap CF's are. example: http://cgi.ebay.ph/SSD-flash-adapter...QQcmdZViewItem

The laptop uses a 1.8" CE Drive with a ZIF connector.

They are not cheap and are rare as hell. I guess thats the price you pay with ultra portable machines.
