Sorry for your loss.
Were they 16x7 silver Motegi MR7's?

coastertrav 11-08-2011 10:47 AM

Nope, 16x8 sportmax 002s

gospeed81 11-08-2011 10:50 AM

SUCK!

Did they just snap your wheel studs on the rear?

Braineack 11-08-2011 10:53 AM

I see an unused garage...

coastertrav 11-08-2011 10:53 AM

All studs are intact, the only damage (besides the wheels being stolen) is that the side skirts are being slightly pushed up and might be cracking the paint.

That garage has two motorcycles, five bikes, and a drum set in it.

turotufas 11-08-2011 10:54 AM

Wow! Sorry man.

Keep us updated.

Braineack 11-08-2011 10:54 AM

sucks. but at least it was just sportmaxes.

mgeoffriau 11-08-2011 11:05 AM

No anti-theft lugnuts?

They were nonstandard splined lugs. I'm really kinda baffled how they got them.

shuiend 11-08-2011 11:13 AM

Looks like it is time for 15x9 6UL's.

18psi 11-08-2011 11:21 AM

1) They did you a favor by getting rid of 0 offset herrafrush wheels
2) Start watching clubroadster classifieds
3) I am only half joking

Sorry for your loss man, I'd be raging pretty hard right now regardless what wheels they were.

turotufas 11-08-2011 11:25 AM

On corner of garage you will need... a motion sensor light thing.

Oh, I don't like them. I don't use them on my RPF1's. On the other hand, my car isn't parked out in front of my house all night, either.

coastertrav 11-08-2011 01:04 PM

While I used to like the wheels, they were getting old (I got them almost 5 years ago, before sportmax even had a website). Wheel changes are just better when you're prepared for them, not in the middle of a week that you have a bunch of shit going on in.

I'm watching craigslist, honda-tech, and the like to see if they pop up. I'm not so much pissed that I don't have them any more, but pissed that I didn't catch the lowlife in the act. We'd have one less scumbag here in Orlando if my roommates and I would have got to him first.

ThatGuy85 11-08-2011 01:51 PM

Bummer man :( Like others said I don't care what kind of wheels they were, I'd be pissed.

If you had the key lugnuts I'm not sure how they'd get them either. Do you keep the key in the center console like I do? They could have just used that if it wasn't locked...

y8s 11-08-2011 02:09 PM

at least they left the car.

we had our 98 civic stolen and they took the drag wheels (sportmax equivlanet) and left the car on a rock like that.

it also had spline lugnuts.... which are totally worthless for security because you can buy the adapter key anywhere.

they did not take the used lugnuts.

samnavy 11-08-2011 02:14 PM

Time to invest in decent security camera setup.

They took 15/16 lugnuts :(

Yep. If somebody decides they want to start stealing wheels all they have to do is go to the local autozone or wherever, puck up a few sets of those spline lugnuts, and there in business. The only thing is, they have to sell them somehow. I'd check with local pawn shops too.

I gave the officer a picture to pass along. She said they'd start circulating it around the local pawn shops around the end of the week.

I'm in a similar (but less costly) boat. Someone stole the sidemarkers off of my S2000. I'm in a very nice neighborhood but not far from a less-nice neighborhood. My car is parked on the street, but right under a bright street light at a very open intersection.

Luckily, they were removed very cleanly and not cut - and they are like $30 shipped for OEM units. Time to rotate the wife's car out to the street and the Honda in to the garage, I guess.

What neighborhood? I'm right behind UCF, and sounds like you described my place.

curly 11-08-2011 07:38 PM

You can bash a crappy $3 socket on a splined nut to get it off. Works if you loose your key. Although most of the time the socket and nut become one. With enough practice I'm sure you could make the socket reusable once you've formed it over one.

y8s 11-08-2011 07:41 PM

you think wheel thieves aren't above socket theft?

More like downtown - think Thornton/College/Baldwin Park.

Joe Perez 11-09-2011 09:24 AM

Well, that majorly sucks. Happens in college towns, though. Some dickhead stole the K-Mart radio out of my '71 Beetle.

Gotcha, that could be rough down there too.

I've got my stockers I'm going to roll around on for a bit. I'd hate to spend the money on new wheels only to have them jacked again. I'l wait a few years till I move.

When I called my dad about it, he retold me the story of having his WalMart tape deck stolen out of his Alfa ten years ago. Slashed the top on an unlocked car to take a $20 radio.

Well there ya go. Nothing wrong with the Daisys, just put a set of Star Specs on 'em.

Funny, because the Beetle they took my tape deck from while I was at UF was also a convertible. And I wish that they'd have slashed the top, because it needed replacing anyway. No, this dipshit used a big screwdriver to pry the vent window out, putting a big dent in the top of the door panel, fucking up the original paint, and destroying the nearly irreplaceable vent window frame.

stop cleaning brake dust = instant anti-theft.

shuiend 11-09-2011 02:10 PM

Looks like the local cops where I live had some wheels stolen to. Here is the article.

I also have felt that pain. Some A-hole smashed the windows on my F150, in my drive way, and took whole stereo system, PSP and a bunch of Xmas presents.
Let us know if you find the guy and what kind of ass whoopin he gets.

Doppelgänger 11-09-2011 03:12 PM

Years ago, I dropped off my FC to get painted. They parked it behind the shop in a fanced/barbwired lot. Got a call two days later that my car was on blocks and they took my nice 17" VOLK GT-Ns...it's teh suckage. I still think it was an inside job.

bluemax 11-09-2011 04:48 PM

Sheeyit.... the cops' wheels are getting jacked here: http://www.wyff4.com/news/29723778/detail.html

Luckily, it's an NB, so no Daisys. Also, I'm working on making some spacers so they don't look so sunken in.
