basic tuning question
My friend just bought a track bike (07 600rr) with full exhaust and a power commander (controls injectors/fuel, no timing control) and now I'm wondering what fuel he needs to run in it. Is it ok to assume that since the stock bike runs on 87-91 and all the piggyback does is change fuel that it should still run on 91 and not need something like 100+ octane when running stock timing?
The previous owner is on his way to a wedding in Jamaica so I don't think he's going to respond any time soon. |
I've never heard of anyone needing to change their fuel octane after nothing more than an exhaust and a power commander. If you check the dyno sheets posted by Yoshi, 2bros, etc., you'll see that we're not talking about a huge difference in peak torque here.

since when does the stock bike run on 87? dude i believe that if i was spinning 15k rpm i would run premium, you ever think of what detonation will do to a bike like that at max rpm. The bike gets probly 30+ mpg with agressive riding, and has a 4-5 gallon tank spend the extra 1dollar a tank on some high octane.
