Does anyone happen to have a link to a really good dark beer selection gift basket. I'm really hoping to find something with a dozen or so monstrous and incredible imperial stouts and porters, hopefully from areas other than the left coast, since I've pretty much sampled most of the good ones out here. I need to get on this asap since it's for Xmas.

Good luck with that. Even on the good coast we get all the left coast beer for some reason and finding our own damn brews is a very local thing. Like I mean, I can go into any number of stores and get any number of west coast brews. I go to the liquor store down the street from me thats practically across the street from worm town brewery and they got nothin. I still havent had the ******* beer thats literally made less than a mile from me because I've never seen it in a god damn store that is open past 5pm or on weekends.

I've bought the individual bottles and a basket and added some seasonal touches in the past. It's not difficult to come up with something nice.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this. I've been drooling over a bunch of east coast stuff for years. There is almost zero distribution on the left coast unless you live in like LA or SF and the its only specialty retailers.

When I drank my way around Epcot last year, my only regret is being too sloshed to not spend more time drinking in "The American Adventure" area. I was stunned at the variety they were offering. That's where I got my first taste of Bells Oberon and I believe Two Hearted. Now I'm like a junky chasing a fix

Shameless plug for a local beer store (OK, local to Meredith NH still a bit far from Woosta...) If your ever in that part of NH it's worth the stop. A great selection of NE beers.

Welcome to Case-n-Keg-Meredith

Toasted Coconut Porter is pretty good.

In wisconsin, something from new glarus is always the beer of the day. Today it's spotted cow (only sold in WI, sorry non-cheeseheaded folks!). Easily my favorite beer

Wisconsin, huh? My picture was taken sitting on an open air patio just before sunset. It had cooled to about 77 degrees by then so we stayed about 2 hours.

I haven't been sharing my drinks on MT here. Figure now's a good time to start.

The last buy.

Shameless gay post. UFO Gingerland is an amazing Christmas beer. Has an amazing gingerbread finish that lingers just right and doesnt leave a nasty taste once it slowly fades away like I was expecting it to. Nice and light and drinkable being based on an unfiltered wheat.

I just found a few "contenders" down at the local Whole Foods store that I though were worth sharing. The liquor buyer at that particular store is apparently a big stout fan, and I am fast becoming a fan of his selections. Today's offerings:

Hangar 24 Craft Brewery Pugachev's Cobra
Sorry, I couldn't find a pic of the current release of the Barrel Roll (Pugachev's Cobra) ^^, but it is a monstrous, barrel aged stout with a ABV of early 19%. I want so badly to open one up, but I'm led to believe they get even better with age so I am refraining as long as I possibly can.

^^This one sounds pretty good too, but I'm not opening one tonight.

Instead, I will have one of these puppies (which I have been searching all over for, for the past year or so):

YUM. I do love me some barrel aged brews!

Interesting beer holder.

Not that I approve of fizzy yellow beer, or of dancing in that manner, but it's still nice to see mechanical science applied in the furtherance of beer-preservation.

One of the best double IPAs I've ever had. It's localish to boot, and the manager of the brewery bar sold me a miata for a reasonable price.

I've been on a lagunitas kick lately.

So far, Imperial Red has been my fav.

Just finished a 6pack of lil sumpthin sumpthin.

Hairy eyeball awaits in the fridge

The Imperial Red was very inviting, not difficult to get over the taste. Smoooth

Lil sumpthin was a bit different. Very Wheat, Much alcohol taste, so drunk off of 2

Default Trappist evening

Started the evening with deep (2") dish pizza and this:

Quite nice, a very mild hop flavor and very drinkable.

And then had one of these with a raspberry fruit tart for desert.

Stong honey and malt flavors. Pretty good as a desert beer.

You are a better man than I. Like the difference Rochefort beers, they are just too booze to be a dessert beef for me.

Something like a Rogue Double Chocolate Stout is more up my alley for that purpose.

(I'm not big on boozy beers, if I want that, I'll just drink a nice Bourbon.)
