I used to, but honestly, they are so commonly available anymore (literally throughout the year) that there's no need to rush around for the regular variety here. The odd variants are still quite a bit more scarce, and hence more coveted, so I would step out for chance at one of them. I agree that there are better BA stouts than the regular version, but it still is a pretty solid would-not-kick-her-out-of-bed stout.

This was surprisingly bitter, and surprisingly absent the tartness which I expect from anything with Brett on the label. After a few sips, however, it really started to grow on me. While the flavor didn't really progress much throughout the glass, it was interestingly complex and quite satisfying.

No surprises here. A simple but entirely competent interpretation of a classic style.

No, it's a tall boy. Just bad perspective.

There's a local shop where I found last year's release (which I still haven't opened), and I shall check there first.

Delirium in 4-pack cans? I know what I'm having for breakfast.

One of my favorite beers, what did that 4-pack run you? I noticed they just upped the price of the price of singles and 4-pack bottles here.

No idea. I bought it at Target a few days ago, and the receipt is long gone.

Fair enough, I noticed last week, a 4-pack of 11.4oz bottles had gone from 12.99 to 18.99. That's a pretty steep hike for no discernible reason.

I have no idea where this beer came from. I mean, I know in a general sense that it had to have been given to me by someone for whom I performed mechanical / ECU-related services, but it's been at least five years since I've engaged in that sort of exchange. I might have been living in Florida or California at the time, which covers a lot of territory, both geographically and politically.

(I did a lot of pro-bono work, and received a lot of beer, during the 2009-2013 timeframe.)

So while I cannot remember who you are specifically, you have my thanks. It's aged well. Light, but with a nicely complex, slightly tart character which lingers on the tongue. The second pour produced a lot of sediment, which added a rich, yeasty character. Basically liquid bread. Good stuff.

SF Beer week brought us a special treat this year.

Yes, I am an idiot and poured it before I read the can. I drank the 2nd one straight from the can and it was also excellent.

Cans? That's genius! I shall go out in search of it. (I miss being able to just stop off at the brewery on my way home.)

Saw this on the shelf yesterday:

Didn't buy any, but I think they deserve an award for the best nerdcore label.

Three Floyds: "Building Better Beers."

I've been drinking quote a lot of this lately:

It's a wonderful gose which eschews the fruit so common in other beers of the genre, and in fact reminds me quite a lot of Lindemans Cuvée René, the first sour which I ever had, and which I believe may still be the best to this day. Off Color Brewing's "Troublesome" may be the second best, and their taproom (aka The Mousetrap) is conveniently located just a few stops from my home on the red line train.

So, I've been in the same home for two years now, which of course means it's time to move. (A rolling stone gathers no moss.)

While bringing the deep-archives up to room temp in anticipation of packing them, it occurs to me that I've been dragging some of these around since I lived in Mira Mesa, c. 2010.

That's a shocking amount of self-restraint.

What's the oldest bottle any of y'all lonely homosexual deviants are hanging onto?

(I'm gonna leave that pipeworks at room temp for a while, in the hope that there may still be something alive inside of it which will make it the funkiest thing I have ever tasted.)
