Spammers spoof legitimate companies email adresses all the time. Some have trojan horse programs (note they don't taste like raisins) that copy email lists too. I have had my company email used a couple of times. Only way the company finds out it happened is all the mail bouncing back as undeliverable. Sucks lemonade. Sweet lemonade.

Just look at all the spoof emails you get for banks, ebay, facebook, etc.

Now you've confirmed to the spam-bot that you exist. Expect to get more spam in the future. FAIL.

for longest time ive seen spammers use my email addresses. at some point in time, someone hacked a shared server where my urbansoot.net domain was parked at a time and sent out enormous amount of AIM viruses which affected close to 27,000 people or something like that. im still fighting with this crap and get some emails directed to me to "stop spamming" when i obviously dont do it. :(

here is a link to the trojan on my site: http://blog.edseek.com/archives/2005...jan-using-aim/

I got a couple like this a while back to my main email account. Apparently emails sent to you are pretty secure, but anyone can send an email to anyone else and tag it as being from XXX@XXX.com. Spammers use it all the time to get past junk filters and stuff. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it except change addresses if it gets really bad.

gmail and yahoo are very good at domain verification. in fact, legitimate emails take anywhere from 40 minutes to several days to get past yahoo spam filters :)

Great reason to not use Yahoo. 40 minutes to pass a spam filter is retarded. :)
