Picked up a 750 of Svedka ($15) and a 375 of Tito's ($12) at lunch. score. will test soon!
Sam: NY may have laws against outside liquor shipments in which case nobody will do it. go to the tito's website and look for a place and drive.

I just dont want to go blindly looking for it.
NY is Kosher with the Liquor via mail.
I bought my first-ever bottle at Morrell's in Rockefeller Center. Tito's used to advertise a ton in the NYT, and I just grabbed a bottle first time I saw it. I would think they have it in any bigger place, like a Buy-Rite(if they're still around).

RESULTS!
chilled both a bit and poured into sample glasses.
Tito's: smooth with a little bit of spiciness. not harsh at all, but not quite "neutral" in flavor either. I think I'd save this for drinking straight or in milder drinks or SUPER dry martinis (ie just the tiniest touch of xdry vermouth)
Svedka: even smoother. you'd swear there was some heavy cream in there somewhere. it's a notch less harsh than the Tito's (and Tito's isn't harsh at all) and doesn't have the spiciness. for the price, I'd mix it in just about everything where you can taste the vodka or even have it straight if the mood suited me. the dirty martini I just made with it has a nice mouth-coating savoriness with this stuff.
Luksusowa: giving this one away at my next party. too much rocket fuel harshness that overwhelms the flavor. I might just be sensitive to it since the gf didn't have the same reaction (nasty face and tongue hanging out).
not bad not bad. thanks for your help everyone!

From Samnavy's hard drive thread:
Good to see you had some good results. I have been following the thread with interest but without any advice. Looked for Tito's in the grocery store last night with no luck, but Svedka was $13.99.
I will be buying one or both soon.

seriously, start with the svedka. I hope all the bars I go to have it because it's what I'm gonna mix with when I'm out as a bench mark. unless they give me free tastes of other cheapies.

We have a bottle of Sveda at home right now and I think it is fine, though we tend to use it for mixers. I'll have to look up that Tito's stuff next time I hit a liquor store.
On a dare I took a shot of straight Everclear when I was young and stupid. I'll never do that again.
