Question Will a Miata engine fit in the passenger compartment?

Crazy question I guess, but with the passenger seat removed, will a Miata engine fit in its place for transport? I thought I saw a picture of this once, but can't find it.

Without the seat, yes, as long it has no ancillaries on it.

I figured no p/s pump, alternator, and exhaust mani for sure. Does the intake have to come off as well?

Never tried it with the intake in place, but it definitely works with both manifolds and the belt-driven accessories off.

This motor had both manis on it when I drove it home in the Saturn, but the intake mani is kind of sitting over the door panel armrest which is a good bit wider space than what a Miata has. You might be able to get away with leaving the intake on if the exhaust/AC/PS is removed.

Allow yourself some extra braking distance with that weight in there. It was slightly worse than I expected it to be.

It would have been much easier to load & unload it if I hadn't used a car with a fixed roof.

Jared did it. I say if you remove the IM and put on the floor there's plenty of space.

I've carried a bare short block w/main caps on it for some 300 yards on foot. **** was not fun, my back was not particularly amused either.

ok I am going to show my ignorance here
Why would you not remove the trunk lid and put it in the trunk put spare tire in front
I can't see it would be any worse may make the steering a little funky
I could see it crashing through and breaking the rear end

As opposed to just sticking it on the floor on the pax side? Seems like a lot more work.

1. I power cleaned 205x5 today
2. I deadlift 300x5
3. I took the hardtop off my green car, pulled into the machine shop, and they lowered the engine into the car, and I put the HT back on, then drove home. It was pretty baller.

A few years back a guy drove into one of our Houston Miata Club meetings with a Transmission in his passenger seat. I can not remember if he drove in from DFW or Austin.
