So no one had anything to say about this? I'm still wondering what happened to all the Killer Bees?!

surveys and polls of climate change show somewhere over 90% agree that humanity has had an effect.

surveys of the general public (you and me) show less agreement.

the question you have to ask yourself is this:

when you need to learn about something based in very technical, specialized science, do you ask 10 random people on the street or do you call the experts who have studied the subject and analyzed the data?

do you watch glenn beck

or go to the library

Dictionary.com's Definition of "Science" number two;
2. systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.

I underlined the key word of that sentence which compelled me to quote it. Fact of the matter is nobody knows. Scientists and many about the world much much smarter than myself have had what, maybe three to five thousand years of actual data to base their hypothesis (Educated GUESS) from? Even if they had more data, hundreds of thousands of years worth we still don't honestly know whats going on with this planet. Pure and simple.

Have we [man kind] had something to do with changes on our planet? Honestly that isn't absolutely out of the realm of possibility to me. What I do find very far stretched is the extreme that the so called 'alarmists' are going to, that the world is going to come to a fire filled end within the next 2 decades or something. Even from their 'data' about change over the previous several thousands of years, somehow I doubt it'll be anything to worry about for the next few thousands of years quite honestly. Unless maybe the sun comes crashing into the planet, then we're all fucked anyway.

I still say there's a ton of political motivation behind it on both sides. Cap and trade for example. Threats to tax coal fired power plants out of business, how about the refusal to sign off on more nuclear powered plants? Before we do everything physically possible to completely cripple our nation's ability to do anything how about we come up with another solution that'll actually work first? I sure the hell don't mean a fucking wind mill or Toyota Prius. :jerkit:

To complicate things even further, how about China's current "Industrial Revolution?" Read an article the other day that stated an emission from a Chinese plant was discovered on a Colorado mountain peak...

I'll accept that.

For what it's worth, just because science can't completely comprehensively nail down a subject doesn't mean it's a crackpot idea. Look at gravity. Einstein's general relativity equations fail to comply with quantum physics yet people have accepted gravity (by force, ha ha) for as long as people have existed.

The difference is that we can immediately see the results of gravity by dropping something. If the effects of global warming / climate change were as immediate and personal, it'd be easier for people to accept.

Come on, this is the best and most civil discussion we've had on the subject yet. :hustler:;)

I got to drive in that shitty slop for 20 HOURS on thursday. I was south of Abilene, TX, which is 185 miles west of Dallas, and there was no snow. I drove out of the crappy weather for 3.5 hours and right back into it later in the day. The storm stretched over 250 miles of north texas.

My house and most of DFW got over 8 inches of snow, in fucking TX!!!!

Global Warming = Cycle of Weather

You are a lucky bastard! If that was my car it would have been crushed. Good job (or whatever)!

It was shit to drive in. I hated every minute of it. Then it hated me back and gave me pneumonia.

i'm gonna keep replying to all of the global warming posts, you guys should know that by now!

it's not a cycle...
unless that cycle is part of a hillclimb event...

anyway.

even if it snows one day a year and it's mild, I would still own snow tires. they are just plain awesome compared to 3-seasons.

so hustlerz, what was that awning made out of that made it unable to hold a few inches of fluffy water?

They were replaced with anthrax, then later that was replaced with swine flu.
