Buckyballs

There is a coupon code posted on slickdeals for 45% off your order from buckyballs. Ive wanted some of these for a while but Ive always considered them too expensive. So this was great.

Buckyballs 45% off!! - Slickdeals.net

Back story, There was a Groupon for some Buckys and Groupon canceled everyone's orders because the thing about Buckyballs being dangerous, hence whey the code is SuckItGroupon.

IIRC the government told them to issue a recall because they are a choking hazard and they told the government to go fuck themselves.

lol

icantthink4155 08-17-2012 11:18 AM

How strange that small, powerful magnets are a choking harzard. I never would of guessed. Anyone that died from swallowing these is worthy of a Darwin Award and we are all better off.

thenuge26 08-17-2012 11:29 AM

I could understand the recall if they were marketed towards children. But why not recall all steak knives since your kids could cut themselves with them?

y8s 08-17-2012 12:22 PM

it's not because they are a choking hazard.

it's because if you get two or more in your intestines and they pinch the walls, you could end up with perforated intestines and die of sepsis. swallowing just one, probably not so much.

pusha 08-17-2012 01:40 PM

Heheheh swallow hehehehe

Close enough. It still involves you INGESTING them. Which anyone but a 3 year old would not do (well almost anyone).

Since they are not labeled as food, what happens when you eat them should have no consequence.

I came here for the balls, ended up with an empty feeling.

yellowihss 08-17-2012 04:39 PM

My dog ate 13 off my desk, not fun.
Now I keep them in my drawer.

pusha 08-17-2012 04:52 PM

Vashthestampede 08-18-2012 11:46 AM

I have no time in my life to play with magnets, but for those of you that do, maybe you should watch this video.

pusha 08-18-2012 12:30 PM

I always wondered what it would be like to swallow a ball bearing or round magnet and guide it around from the outside with a magnet or piece of metal.

:bowrofl: And while typing that shit I got a mental image of putting one up my ass and sitting on one of those laboratory magnetic stirring machines and let it speed bag your prostate... goddamn internet has twisted my mind (and given me great ideas... hmmm)

Obviously not so worried about adults swallowing them as kids. So the intent would be to inform would-be buyers who are parents or who sometimes have children in their home that these aren't good toys for kids.

Those of you who don't have kids might not know this, but kids do some stupid sh!t. Like, really stupid sh!t. It'll drive you up the wall. I have no trouble believing that a 0-7 year-old (or hell, a teenager) might swallow 2 or more magnet toys.

Is the solution to restrict sales? Hell no! But some education about what could happen if they're swallowed isn't a bad idea.
