Budget sound upgrade in OTM... audio advice?
The OEM stereo in my 2005 4Runner really sucks... come on Toyota, who in 2005 really needed a tape deck? Yes, it's that bad. OEM fronts are 6x9 components w/an inline filter on the high-mounted tweeter, and rears 6.5" full range.
It matters little though because I need to buy some adapters to fit aftermarket speakers because the OEM spearkers/brackets are a single unit. I'm upgrading to a p'n'p SCION headunit that I already have which is a Pioneer product w/MP3/Sat/iPodcontrol/AUX/etc... so I've got that covered. What I need is a very budget speaker upgrade. Probably 6.5" components in front and 6.5" 2-ways in back. I can go with 6x9 components in front if there is something available. I'd like to keep everything in the $100 range... maybe $150 if needed. The 4Runner guys all preach Infinity/Polk... but I don't want to spend $300 for that stuff. I see a lot of Boss/Dual/MTX/Pyle stuff that fits the bill, but it just screams Walmart to me. Are there any cheap but QUALITY options out there? |
