To buy or not to buy?!?!?

Alright guys, I've got a dilemma. My friend just called me with a 93 smurf with 103k miles on it. The lady wants $1500 firm. The car has no PS and no AC. I was thinking it's a perfect start for a turbo. It runs great and has no crank wobble. My problem is with that 1500 I would spend on this one I could buy MS and everything else I need to complete my Greddy project on my 1990. What should I do? Is that a good price? I KBB'd it and fair condition they are worth 1900. The body has a few imperfections, but nothing major. Somebody HELP  I was thinking about daily driving this one and not having to put miles on my truck.....ahhhh I just dont know what to do.

If you're thinking of a 2nd miata I'd definitely get a 1.8.

$1500 is a good deal I would buy, clean, wax, maybe change little stuff and re-sell

Buy car. Sell for more. Buy turbo parts. Break. Buy more parts.

If to resell that's a decent deal with potential to make money.
Keep in mind though that economy is shit right now and cars are not selling well at all. That and its winter time so these cars (at least around here) are a bit cheaper too, due to the season.

True but he could store it till spring time. He's also in FL and it's always nice there

Haha, I offered her 1250 but she said 1500. I'm going outta town this weekend, so if she still has it when I get back, Ill most likely snag it, drive it back and forth, and steal whatever parts I need for my 90. Thanks for the quick responses everyone!

Why would you spend $1500 to take pieces of it? Make money, damn people these days don't know how to make money

I only need small things that most people would never notice were gone. Like the panel over the fuel pump.

Can someone refresh me on the "crankwalk" issue with these. When/why it happens. My Dad was saying that when people did timing belts and didnt torque one of the bolts to spec is when it happened, but I'm almost positive he's just getting old and senile  j/k He was a Master Mazda tech for a long time and pretty much knows these cars inside and out (in stock form). Sorry for the long posts, my mind is going a mile a minute thinking about buying this car, leaving town for my friend's wedding, and my Miata.

Miata Crankshafts

Only a real issue on the 90/early 91 engines, the crank bolt is either too tight or not tight enough. That and the key is sometimes incorrectly installed.

Your the man! Thanks very much. Looks like I'll be the owner of a smurf unless someone scoops it first. Maybe I'll put a down payment tomorrow before I leave town.

Naples, FL + daily driver + No AC = screw that. Your choice though.
