Calling all you methheads

Long story short, this guy that used to work for my dad tried breaking into one of our trucks on our property and one of our skidsteers on the job site and it appeared he was trying to steal the batteries from both vehicles but failed miserably. What would be the point of doing so? It seems like you can get $5-10 bringing them to the junkyard, but that seems pointless for the amount of work to do. Can you make drugs from it? I remember watching something on Discovery about Meth labs and I could have sworn they used batteries to make meth.

I'm just curious why he would deliberately try to steal our batteries lol

I believe they use batteries to make meth, or he my have been trying to steal them thinking they are worth more then they are.

Maybe you should invite meth heads to the thread instead of crack heads then?

Lithium batteries can allegedly be used as a reducing agent in the production of methamphetamine, but this applies only to non-rechargeable batteries which contain lithium in metallic form (eg: watch batteries, disposable batteries for cameras, etc.)

Joe runs a meth lab?

Metal recycling buyers pay somewhere between $0.20 to $0.25 a pound for lead acid batteries. Skid steers usually have pretty hefty batteries, but let's say that the two batteries combined weighs 90 lbs. At $0.20 a pound, that is 18 bucks.

Do that all night from multiple targets, and you have made a pretty good score for your typical meth head.

We have a local recycler that gets ~$0.50/lb for them. That makes stealing a 50lb battery worth a little more effort, I guess.

I fucking hate meth heads...especially my meth-slingin' neighbor.

But man do I love my Breaking Bad on Netflix (yes I signed back up).

You should make a big show of putting some valuable stuff in your shed, and booby trap it. I'm thinking copper wire hooked to a few car batteries. (I think you or somebody else maybe, made a post about a methhead neighbor stealing tools or car parts from a shed) I can't stand junkies, I can only be so much of a humanitarian.

If he used to work for/with your dad maybe he's just doing it out of spite or to be a jerk. He may have wanted to just vandalize and/or remove the batteries so when people showed up to use the equipment it would not be functioning. Regardless of what they are worth used, they can be pricey new and if he destroyed them or damaged them you guys would be out of pocket for replacing them.

Some people are just real jerks...

That could be true too. Thanks to whoever fixed the thread title lol

I wonder if they needed a jump start and were going to steal the battery and carry it off to their car. That sounds kind of far-fetched though.
