calling shipping experts-HELP
i have never shipped anything major and it seems like they are always trying to rip me off when i go to ship something, even if not very heavy
what service do you guys use when shipping stuff like bumpers or trunk lids or hoods i have a sale pending based on shipping to NY i am selling my rear bumper and trunk to a guy in NY and just trying to keep the shipping reasonable also, what service would you use if you had heavy objects, like control arms, or a head, or diff's, etc. once i shipped brakes to canada and it cost me over $60 and they still havent gotten there after over two months, WTF, you know why im so frustrated over this now end of rant, but please do help thanks dan |
Greyhound would take the hood for cheap i bet.
Otherwise DHL seems to be the best for shipping large items. |
with grayhound, would he have to go to a bus stop? or how does that work?
|
|
fedex is the cheapest over here for big items, maybe over there to?
|
FedEX isn't cheap for anything here.
|
lol, here the canada post is cheapest for small things, big things is fedex, ups, and dhl rip you off like you couldnt believe.
|
Yeah, shipping big stuff sucks. I shipped two front spindles and hubs (25 lbs) to Oregon for $17. Shipping a 27 lb box that I made with wood ends and stapled double wall refrigerator box to fit a fender still came out to 27 lbs. Cost me $91 to ship to TX. This was after I quoted him $50 to ship.:crx:
Both shipped UPS and we have a 60% discount a work. FedEx will be cheaper. But for a bumper+trunk? You are looking at $150 due to the size. |
go to the online parcel calculator rate thing and see whats the cheapest.
|
the grayhound quote service is currently down, so no luck there
anyone shipped a bumper or trunk with them before, remember what it cost? appx? |

Just have him buy braineak's trunk. It's "gently used" but I don't think he wants it anymore. |
that WILL buff out
|
Grey hound is cheap, but can take a load of time. Took a rear bumper cover 3 weeks to get from here (Raleigh) to Statesville. I was informed that was an exceptional case since I only paid for shipping, and priority goes to items attached to someone with a bus ticket. Things may have changed by now.

Shipped two irregular shaped packages today insured for $650 a piece weighing 83lbs a piece via DHL for close to $88-90. Apparently they don't care about shape after a certain weight amount so that didn't cost extra. I shipped wheels and tires though if you care.

Greyhound for BIG shit DHL for rest if you can. |
I hope your buyer is paying shipping, or you're going to take it up the ass. On body parts, you're going to pay dimensional rates. Large packages take up allot of room in the truck, you're paying for that space, not the weight.
Have you gone to UPS & FedEx online to check yet? C |
I had a bumper shipped for my 5 series BMW bumper with Greyhound. It was less than $50 from FL to VA. It took a few days, but arrived unscathed.
|
havent checked anyones rates yet, the parts are still on the parts car, i was just asking because i have not shipped many things in the past and am soemwhat of a shipping newb i guess
im just trying to arm myself with shipping knowledge, i just hate USPS and dont want to go through them ever again, i feel like they are trained to rip you off and try everytime, and im just sick of them...i think ill check out DHL and Grayhound both ps-buyer is paying shipping, not me!!! |
So price and give him the options, other than packaging i don't see many differences in using someone elses money to ship stuff ;)
