Towing without brakes sucks. Drive both and you'll want the brakes really bad.

Got myself a trailer today:

It is a 1978 but fully rebuild and top notch. Has brakes and an electric winch.

Feel a lot better for my next track day. More relaxing drive (automatic, cruise control, air conditioning, Bose audio) and no worries if i get a little break down at the track.

Very nice units, the trailer looks like it would carry a tank. LOOKS VERY STOUT. The PUller with Deisel power im sure loves the task.

Congrats

New car hauler: 2005 BMW 535d. Yes, twin turbo diesel, 200kW/272hp. Six speed autobox. 0-62 in 6.6 and 155mph limited top. WHAT A MACHINE?!

Im sure you get what 28-30mpg? My tow vehicle is a 2008 F350 Deisel and I get about 11 towing and 14 normal. Good thing about mine though is that I can haul a Take 3 50' Trailer with 3 miatas on it with out even breaking a sweat. ;)

You can do 28-30 yes, but with my city driving and jams it's around 25.
Mine hauls 4500lbs, but it could probably pull double that but the rear would fall apart :)

I have a roll back trailer. Best trailer I've ever used. no ramps and super low angle deck. Check'em out. http://www.rollbacktrailers.com/ Also a bonus is with a aluminum deck it's only around 1300lbs unloaded!

Why, if it works fine?

Because people don't look behind them before checking their brakes at a barely yellow light. The results can be disastrous as the trailer pushes you and them right across the intersection. Animals also have a nasty habit of running out in front of trucks hauling trailers around here. Truck swerves while on the brakes but the trailer keeps the inertia going = instant jackknife
